Description

The Force is strong with this levitating Death Star Bluetooth speaker that magically defies gravity and rotates above a magnetic base and streams your music at the same time. And the other impressive thing is that when the Death Star is floating there, it’s pretty sturdy – you can touch it and will still sit there.

The iHome Millennium Falcon Bluetooth speaker is the perfect gift for the Star Wars fan who has everything. Not only does it look good, but it also performs really well. You can almost pretend it’s Hans Solo and Chewbacca jamming out when you’re listening or making calls. These stunning Star Wars speakers are as much a fan collectible as they are capable Bluetooth speaker, thanks to attention to detail and cool design. If you are having difficulty playing the audio, make sure that the cables are plugged in securely. You may need to unplug and re-plug it in for the connection to properly catch. You can try to turn the device on and off as well. It should connect automatically and start playing. Design/FunctionalityIn fact, if this Death Star didn’t defy gravity and put on a show by spinning around on its own axis it would be a tough sell.

Fitted with a 2.1 sound system and 2 x 3W speakers with a 10W down-facing subwoofer, connect to your PC, music player, tablet or smartphone to enjoy phenomenal sound quality with plenty of bass. And if you connect your phone via Bluetooth using the easy pairing, you can even enjoy the hands free call function, with this clever droid muting your music while you chat. One thing to note is that the Bluetooth Speaker and device can affect the operation of nearby electronics including any medical devices Make sure that you keep the Death Star floating speaker close to you and maintain a clear line of sight between your device and the Death Star. Charge and Battery Life With last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens smashing box office records across the world, it was inevitable that Star Wars fever would take over every where you look. From action figures to branded merchandise of every conceivable type, I shouldn’t have been surprised when it was announced that two Star Wars Bluetooth speakers were being released. Even more they are fully licensed but my initial fear was that the speakers would be style over substance. In an already crowded market, with varying results rarely determined by price, Bluetooth speakers are in abundance so can these Star Wars speakers stand out? This completely eliminates them as a genuinely compelling portable speaker set – unlike the stellar UE Boom 2. But, in all fairness, that’s not what these speakers are about. AC Worldwide has taken a lot of care over the physical design because it wants them to act as centerpieces in people’s homes, and in my mind it’s succeeded completely. From there you have to wait a few moments for the speakers to connect to each other. Once the two have found each other their coloured light eyes will begin to glow and the speakers will bark one of their iconic characters’ catchphrases to let you know they’re good to go.

As a Star Wars fan, this is one of those must-have products that I would have bought just to watch it float majestically in mid-air and spin on its axis. The speaker itself rotates above a handy magnetic base while providing 360-degree sound quality for up to 5 hours of continuous play with a Bluetooth connection. With 5W capacity and iOS or Android connectivity, the speaker touts the ability to rival any speaker on the market today. Does it live up to its claims? As speakers they don’t match the sound quality of more focused products, like the Sonos 1. But that’s not surprising given their focus on aesthetics and authenticity to the movies. The audio quality is decent and matches some competing speakers in the same price point, like the Ministry of Sound M Plus.

Before you can put the Death Star Floating Speaker to use you’ll need to set it up. Included in the box is a speaker that emulates the Death Star, a power adapter, a micro USB charging cable, a magnetic base, and an instructional manual. As is standard with most Bluetooth speakers, the first aspect of the setup is simply charing the speaker. This will take about two hours. You can even pass non-magnetic items like a piece of paper under the Death Star just like a magician proving there are no wires.
