I want to savor this wonder, this happening of loving a book and reading it for the first time, because the first time is always the best, and I will never read this book for the first time ever again. Her friends were also a supportive bunch, and I enjoyed the fun they had and the time they spent together, but one particular point which I didn’t expect at all, blemished my high opinion I held of some of them. I will say, however, I was satisfied when Autumn and Finny finally realized their romantic love for each other. I kept going back to the front of the book to make sure it wasn’t an Advanced Reader Copy but sure enough, it was read and approved by an editor.

Early in her junior year of high school, Autumn realizes she is in love with Finny but accepts that he loves Sylvie. Autumn walks us through the four years of high school and her ever evolving feelings towards Finn who she may not communicate with at school but remember their lives are still heavily intertwined. But whatever, Finn and Autumn's relationship was cute even though it hardly lasted for long- and it was obvious that they loved each other very much. Not sure how I feel but even though I hate the trope, I can't bring myself to care much since this is a stand-alone. Another teen becomes pregnant after having sex for the first time, and it's implied that another teen does as well.I cannot hear her, but I see Sylvie tell them the cause of the argument, and I know, I know, I know, I know. Brown on the edges and bright in other colors, their petals drooping downward, dying just as their lives have begun. Despite that I knew there was a *Romeo and Juliet-esque / tragic love story ending, I couldn’t help but allow myself to be swept away by Autumn and Finn’s story. This whole book, I have rated it a 3 because the writing wasn’t entirely the best but it was good enough that I could continue on.

The story brings a reader through four years of high school with the back ground of Finn and Autumn’s neighbor/best friend/family relationship that has now become strained while both characters find themselves and pursue different friends.

At the same time, Sylvie’s friend group starts a war with Autumn’s friend group by stealing their table at lunch. This sweet, authentic love story masks complex characters dealing with complex issues: single parents, divorce, only children yet ersatz siblings; high school, college, the pull of the clique; love, friendship, sex, and teen pregnancy . I can see them in the car before the accident—the heavy rain, the world and the pavement as wet and slick as if it had been oiled down for their arrival. I think it’s one of those things you don’t even really care about and you think, “oh whatever, it doesn't seem that bad” but then it comes and at first you’re like ?
