The new home suited Brady, who was aspirational and liked the fact that he was now residing in Marple. The Characters are perfectly developed for the story, they are strong, multi-layered, Complex and relatable. He smiled disarmingly, and Beth noticed it made him look even more handsome with his perfect white teeth. His other hand was clasped around her middle, but it felt weighty, as though he was holding something, which was prodding her stomach.

But he senses she is harbouring something dark… And when the truth is finally revealed, Brady blackmails Beth into bankruptcy. Good news, Gangster’s Grip is no exception; the tense and heavy plot doesn’t stop you wanting to plough on to the shocking yet inevitable ending.I greatly enjoyed the two very different personalities of Julie and her friend Rita and though that the ending fitted well.

Suddenly it dawned on Beth that he must be the manager, and she became embarrassed by her abrasiveness. As they passed an elderly lady walking an overenthusiastic Collie, Rex cowered behind Beth, whimpering. As Beth moves on from her trauma with new husband Brady , she seems a happy, successful career girl. They chatted for a while about their plans for the house, their jobs and other mutual topics till their drinks ran out and Beth decided to go to the bar.

In my honest opinion, Heather deserves to be as popular as Martina Cole, Kimberly Chambers and Mandsue Heller and Heather Burnside is definitely on my must read and favourite authors list. I am a sufferer of depression and found this was covered well in the novel, it can be hard to portray in a book but I think the author has given the character more depth and made Julie more believable in her situation. I love well-rounded characters and clever interactions in books, which is why I’m such a fan of Agatha Christie. Slur was gritty and engaging, leaving me wanting to know whether Julie was ever going to clear her name. Frantic now, Beth carried on battling her way towards Rex till she had almost reached the end of the clump of bushes. Then he lowered his voice, ‘Rumour has it that he’s a bit dodgy and he’s running other businesses on the side. That same colour scheme was picked up in the expensive rug, which adorned the polished wooden flooring, and in the heavy navy-blue textured curtains. Then Beth looked down, shocked to discover that he was clutching a blood-drenched knife, which was rubbing against her clothing and staining her coat.
