Description

To herself, remembering her family): "The world is soiled with needless tragedies. to prevent just one of them from befalling him or anyone else... requires thorough cleaning. And that hasn't changed. In fact, it's more true now than ever." [42] Yor's pointed earrings are traits that she shares with Ashe, the character of Tatsuya Endo's previous one-shot Rengoku no Ashe.

Neither believe the other can change. But as they get to know each other it becomes clear that Hallie isn't the only one in need of protecting. In the fanbook, when Loid [29], Fiona [30], and Yuri's [31] combat abilities are questioned, it is always in comparison to Yor, who is a 10 in pure physical capability. I still don’t know why I keep continuing this book even i skimming most of the part…maybe I want to find if this horrible male character can be redeemed or maybe I just want to torture myself. Ivy Hawthorn has always known she was different. Not only can she see people’s auras, but animals watch her wherever she goes and sometimes her dreams actually come true. Things take a bizarre turn with the arrival of Barrett Forbes, a mysterious transfer student who always seems to be in the right place at the right time when her life is threatened. With the Queen’s health fading fast and Alena aware of Ivy’s whereabouts, Barrett is forced to come clean to her regarding her royal lineage and where her true destiny lies.. Ivy Hawthorne is a seventeen year old, living at a boarding school in the Carolinas. She’s an outsider, a little quirky and a little magical. You see Ivy can see auras, animals seem to follow her around, and her dreams are sometimes prophetic. Now the boy from her dreams is the new kid at school and Ivy is about to follow him down the rabbit hole. I like Ivy. I empathize with her. Her mother went crazy and is in a home, her father never had much to do with Ivy after that, and Ivy thinks he blames her. Her one constant is her Irish grandmother who is just as quirky as Ivy. She’s a little shy and keeps to herself, and I can’t fault her for that. Then Bear shows up, and Ivy’s world is turned upside down. And on that note, Ransom was the least professional bodyguard ever. He shouldn't have even had a job tbh. Just so unbelievable. I don't have much to say other than it was perfect for these two. I liked that beyond all of the spice and character development we got to see a separate story play out between Hallie and her family. And now that I'm thinking about it you actually get that same character growth with some of the side characters as well. Basically, L.J. just handed out good development to these people like it was candy at Halloween. (Here's some growth for you, some development for him, some progress for all of y'all...) 🤣🤣 Because it's my passion. It's what I think about every morning and night .Because I want to change lives. I want to help people hide their scars. Enhance their personalities Their beauty. Who they are. Because the more time I spend on this earth, the more time I believe that self expression is one of the most important gifts we owe ourselves. "+

Interestingly, her maiden name of Yor Briar, rose-coloured patterns and codename hint at the inspiration for her character design being from Little Briar Rose – the alternative title for Sleeping Beauty often used in Japanese literature. So everything she has written I have devoured! I loved this one just the same. I usually enjoy an instalove but this brat and dark horse story developed at a delicious rate.I was disgusted with Ransom during the first time they met: he breaks into Hallie's house, storms in on her while she's naked, doesn't explain who he is at all, and just starts hauling her around. Like... is this a joke? In what world would a professional bodyguard do this? Obviously, she freaks out and thinks he's a rapist. It just made absolutely no sense. When no one actually expects anything of you, why would you expect anything of yourself? L.J. Shen has brought forth a rollercoaster of a story of hidden truths and unfair assumptions. Delving into Hallie and Ransom’s story had all my emotions in a bind. Watching Hallie become the woman she truly is was like watching the most beautiful flower bloom all the while, Ransoms frosty exterior and emotionless state gets chipped away like an ice sculpture we’re all dying to look upon. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book. LJ Shen has written another masterpiece to add to my shelf! During the development phase, Yor's job was originally going to be that of a janitor, but was later changed to her current one at City Hall. [33] What I didn’t know was that this story would end up being my undoing from the moment I realised what it was about.

I loved this audiobook. I found myself emotionally invested and absorbed from the beginning through to the end.

I absolutely adored Hallie, and the courage she digs so deeply to find after a lifetime of being silenced,in every way possible.

Ivy Hawthorne has always felt like an outsider, but now she is starting to wonder who—and what—she really is. To herself): "My parents are gone, and Loid's are too. So Anya's never experienced having a grandparent before. I guess I never have either, but... You can't miss what you've never known, so I can't say I was ever sad about that. But I wonder if that's true for Anya as well?" [44] After that, my father presented me with an ultimatum—either he cuts off the gravy train and stops paying for my lavish lifestyle or I agree to have a live-in bodyguard. The way in wich their relationship develop was interesting to find out about from the different point of views of Ransom and the Hailee.Assigned and hired for The Brat Hallie Thorne, d/o former president. They're explosive mix of duty & disdain, fire and gasoline. They clash, they reject, they push and they repel. He's a master of his profession and she's his biggest challenge - His Brat
