An FCU (fused connection unit) does more than just connect wires together. They're used where a fuse and cordgrip are needed, ie when connecting an appliance flex to fixed wiring. Because they use the same insulation color coding and crimping tools as spade terminals, butt-splice connectors (Figure 5) often appear in the same manufacturer’s series as spade terminals. The Terminal strips can be easily cut with utility knife or scissors to your desired strips or to create your custom sections. Depending on the design, a flat-blade screwdriver, a cross-blade screwdriver, hex key, Torx key, or other tool may be required to properly tighten the connection for reliable operation.
