compromising the original sound design, especially during the chaotic final chase scene. These comments certainly extend to Beyond After Max refuses to kill Blaster, he’s exiled into the wilderness and is found, near death, by a group of children descended from the survivors of a plane crash and living in an oasis they call “Planet Erf.” They believe Max is the plane’s pilot, who had left with their parents to find civilization, and when some of them leave and Max tries to help them, he ends up crossing paths with Aunty Entity again. extended into post-production when he ran out of money and, along with late producer Byron Kennedy, resorting to editing and other tasks in his Mad Max features the same primary options as Kino's 4K edition: a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio remix and the original 2.0 mono theatrical mix. Please note that

Warner Bros.' 4K disc for the original Mad Max represents one of this set's only real surprises: it's clearly sourced from the from its initial development (and a story ripped from the headlines) to its reception and legacy... along with everything he and his team learned The Road Warriors: Max and Furiosa – 10 minutes with Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron chatting about their characters, Miller’s vision and the final result.Haunted by his turbulent past, Max (Tom Hardy) wanders alone until he's swept up with a group, led by Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), fleeing across the Wasteland. In hot pursuit: a warlord who gathers his gang and pursues the rebels ruthlessly, leading to a high-octane road war in director George Miller's return to the world of Mad Max. Mad Max: Fury Road was filmed digitally using Arri Alexa cameras at a resolution of 2.8K but it was finished using a 2K Digital Intermediate (DI). This 2K DI presumably formed the basis for the Ultra HD Blu-ray release being up-scaled by Warner Brothers to 4K. The film is presented using a 3840 x 2160p transfer in the film's correct 2.40:1 aspect ratio, the disc uses 10-bit video depth, a Wider Colour Gamut (WCG) and High Dynamic Range (HDR), and is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec. The Ultra HD Blu-ray was reviewed using a Panasonic TX-65DX902B Ultra HD TV and a Samsung UBD-K8500 Ultra HD Blu-ray player. interiors of Bartertown and oasis-like "Planet Erf" where Max is brought by Savannah Nix. These scenes enjoy a nice boost in effectiveness, The Tools of the Wasteland – 15 minutes looking at production design of the dystopian world and its many embellishments.

Taking a cue from Sergio Leone’s “Man with no name” westerns, as well as a bit from Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and Yojimbo/ Sanjuro, Mad Max 2 finds our hero helping a group of settlers defend themselves from outlaws who call themselves the Marauders. (I believe it’s a law that all dystopian stories need to feature roving bands of bad guys.) In the process, Max rediscovers the humanity that he lost when his family died in the first film. Warner says that all four films were remastered in 4K from scans of the original camera negatives, although it’s not clear if the Mad Max 4K disc uses the same master as the one Kino Lorber released. A comparison of the two discs showed that there wasn’t much, if any, difference between them. The Road Warrior is the only disc in this collection with any bonus content whatsoever, adding an enjoyable mid-length blooming), less overall noise, and more deeply saturated colors. Additionally, the aspect ratio is slightly different and this suggests that Kino's life by the tasteful use of HDR enhancement. If you haven't seen The Road Warrior in a decade or more, you'll be very surprised withof the legacy bonus features are missing in action. It's a fine solution if you've already got the Blu-rays and want a sleek, no-nonsense 4K upgrade (or Thunderdome) will be the go-to option, and these seem to be the genuine article. Both feature strong channel separation, dialogue that's
