It took me about 5-10 minutes to set everything up. So, the process was not as smooth as with Wahoo bike computers. In its most simple form, the computer is fairly easy to use while on a ride and I experienced no issues of losing GPS signal. It relays messages as advertised and keeps the data you choose nicely organized on the screen. The mount for the computer isn't compatible with anything other than Lezyne's mounts, but it is more secure than a Garmin or Wahoo unit. Lezyne makes a full line of cycling computers and accessories. The Super GPS Enhanced is offered as a stand-alone unit (as tested) as well as with the following options: Lezyne Super Pro GPS comes only with ANT+ and Bluetooth connectivity, unlike most modern bike computers that also feature Wi-Fi.

Lezyne has its own mounting system. It’s a bit more robust than Garmin’s, as you need to push down and turn the unit a quarter turn to engage it, so the computer is less likely to slip out. The mount sits a bit higher on the bike than Garmin’s too, although it’s attached with a similar system using two rubber bands. For a Super GPS or a Macro GPS, hold down the Enter and Lap buttons while plugging it in to you computer. For a Micro GPS or a Mini GPS, hold down the Enter and Menu buttons while plugging it in to you computer. The updater should now recognize the GPS device and immediately do a firmware update. Once that measurement is sorted, cycling computers can work out your distance, average and maximum speed, and your ride time. You may not need all that data, or you may need far more if you’re training for a race or competition.I bought a used Super Pro GPS that was used for about a year. The previous owner didn’t reset it to the factory settings, so I had to delete the activities and adjust the settings.

I was a bit pessimistic when the Lezyne Super Pro GPS unit showed up at my door. Over the years, a few companies have tried to take on the two giants of the on-bike GPS units and had little to no impact. Lezyne, known for its tools and accessories to enhance your time on and off the bike, has stepped into the proverbial GPS heavy-weight ring with its latest offerings of devices. Lezyne Super Pro and Ally + mobile app Navigation requires loading a route from your phone to the computer. There's no pre-loaded base map, but there are turn-by-turn directions. Routing doesn't always seem to follow the least traveled roads or greenways, in my experience although you are able to select your preferences in the app, according to Lezyne. The ability to do this is a little hidden right now, but they claim to be adding a pop-up feature that will make it much more clear.

Lezyne GPS Ally app

This bike computer is an awesome GPS enabled cycling computer with innovative smartphone integration. Its compact and rugged design makes it well suited to use on a variety of bikes. The price is phenomenal and it changes our expectations of cycling computers in this price range. Navigation at this price range was unheard of before the release of the Super GPS. With every new product cycle, we are more and more impressed with Lezyne; we can't wait to see what comes next. Garmin beware, a new player has arrived. Other Versions and Accessories It’s monochromatic and low resolution, so it doesn’t require too much power. This translates into longer battery life.

It features a GPS/Glonass chipset, in addition to an integrated barometer and accelerometer, for superior data recording and elevation readings. And it offers up to 28-hours of battery runtime. The Super GPS has a mapping feature that is unique to the Lezyne models. Using the Ally V2 application, a destination can be selected and the application will give you routing options from your location. The application will provide you with 1-3 options that you can select by tapping the route on your smartphone screen. Once a route is selected, it will send the route to the Super GPS. As you ride, turn-by-turn directions are displayed on the screen. The Ally app also lets you seamlessly transfer ride data to Lezyne’s GPS Root computer app and to Strava, TrainingPeaks and Today’s Plan. There’s support for Strava Live, while incoming call and text notifications are pushed from your phone to the GPS. The device contains a GPS/GLONASS chipset, integrated barometer, and accelerometer for superior data recording and elevation readings. It also offers up to 28 hours of battery runtime and is easily recharged via a highly water-resistant micro-USB port.

When a Lezyne GPS freezes you can shut down the device by pressing 'Menu' and 'Enter' for 30 seconds. We call this a 'Hard Reset'. If this happens while driving, you will unfortunately lose all your recorded trip data.
