Description

Berserk Tyr was the Viking God of War. Warriors called Berserkir prepared for battle by wearing bearskin cloaks and working themselves into a frenzy. Arthur's adventure begins in a small Icelandic town and comes to encompass many of the mythic heroes and figures from Norse mythology. Arthur himself is delightful; independent, brave, charming, and he steps up to save his town when all seems lost. Arthur, a small boy fascinated by the magical tales of the town's wise woman, is out exploring one day when he's startled by a terrible howl. Too late, he watches as a huge wolf, Fenrir, puts out the village's great fire, meaning that the village faces being frozen solid in a week - unless a Viking god relights the fire. This comprehension is linked to the second half of Arthur and the Golden Rope book which is a fantastic story linked to Vikings.

Here is the first idea in a new series of videos based around the fantastic book: Arthur and The Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton. These ideas demonstrate how creative technology can support and enhance learning and reading. Your can choose from six resources for your Lower KS2 class. Have a look through to see how we have differentiated this resource.Príbeh o Artúrovi, ktorý napriek svojmu veku dokázal preľstiť a poraziť veľkého, nebezpečného Fenrira, pri lapení ktorého zlyhali samotní bohovia, by nemal chýbať v žiadnej knižnici.

This week our maths is all about area. Watch the video and do the worksheet as you go along. Question 1 is a task on the video. It's the same video and worksheet for both groups today. After reading the first half of Arthur and the Golden Rope book, your class can complete this comprehension and answer a range of questions based on their understanding, ability to retrieve information and apply their literacy knowledge. This resource has been differentiated by reducing the amount of punctuation the child would be looking for and marking out where a piece of punctuation must go. Disclaimer: Many thanks to NoBrow for the opportunity to read and review. Please assure that my opinions are honest. In this reading resource, we have taken some of the lovely vocabulary used by Joe Todd-Stanton and your class must look at the words and identify their meanings or try to explain in their own words what they think the word means.

Education Shed Ltd, Severn House, Severn Bridge, Riverside North, Bewdley, Worcestershire, UK, DY12 1AB This is an 12-session Literary Leaf for Arthur and the Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton which covers all aspects of the Lower Key Stage 2 content domains. Throughout the sequence children will be provided with opportunities to develop skills of retrieval, inference, summarising and sequencing through taking part in class discussions, completing practical activities and answering questions. They will also explore the meanings of new vocabulary in context and be able to draw links with other areas of the curriculum, for example the study of the Vikings in History. Synopsis of Text: The Vikings believed in many different Gods and Goddesses. Each god had its own personality. The main gods were Odin, Thor and Frey. Frey was the god of fertility and birth. When Vikings married, they would ask Frey to bless them with many children. Frey’s sister Freyja was the goddess of fertility and love. The First Drawings by Mordicai Gerstein (Y3 planning sequence in the Literary Curriculum) would be an ideal text to teach this alongside. In this first idea, we look at exploring the front cover of the book to make predictions and connections.

Pro: Norse mythology, Viking Age, actions & adventures, illustrations, fast paced, unlikely hero, magical objects, ancient mythical world Arthur is counselled by the village elder, who is a woman ( not sure why I'm so taken with that fact!) He becomes adventurous and brave, endlessly interested in his surroundings. He gathers and carries around keepsakes and charms from his adventures and who knows when they'll come in useful. Táto kniha rozpráva príbeh o prvom členovi tejto odvážnej rodiny, o islandskom chlapcovi menom Artúr, o jeho udatnosti a hrdinských činoch.

An unlikely hero rescues his Icelandic village in this picture-book retelling of “The Binding of Fenrir.” Thor was very strong. There are many stories of his battles against giants and monsters, whom he defeated with his mighty hammer. A fantastic version of a Norse myth that falls between a picture book for older readers and a graphic novel, this is a promising start to an attractive adventure series that should appeal to boys and girls. Příběh malého chlapce Artura (prvního v dlouhé linii Brownstonů), který se vydal zachránit své islandské městečsko poté, co bájný vlk Fenrir uhasil velký oheň. Doputuje až do Åsgardu, kde požádá Thora o pomoc. Ten rád pomůže, má to ale háček - ono v titulu zmíněné zlaté lano... Here is the next idea in the series based around the fantastic book: Arthur and The Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton.
