Scan resolution. PrimeFilm XA maxes out at 10,000DPI “ ultra-resolution ” , which can yield 137- megapixel scans, or images measuring about 14,370 by 9,566 pixels. The optical resolution of this scanner is quoted at 5000 ✕ 10,000DPI by Taiwantrade.com . This means that in “ultra-resolution” mode, PrimeFilm XAs will create an interpolated scan that will have a high 10K DPI resolution in one of its dimensions — this way you are still getting about 50% more information out of your image than with a 5K DPI. Above are crops of the original scans, on the left the PF 3600 PRO and on the right the Minolta Scan Dual 3. The noise is plainly visible on the PF 3600 PRO, as is the low contrast.

The V850 Pro also has a ReadyScan LED light source for greater productivity in scanning your images. ReadyScan allows the device to start scanning after less than a second so that you can produce digital prints faster. A4 scanning takes around 12 seconds, while 35mm negative scanning is almost a minute long (at 4800 dpi). I have to say, that my Nikon Super CoolScan 4000 ED was far better, it even produced a standard raw file that I could manipulate with my favourite raw processor, Iridient Digital, after the owner of that software responded to my request to add the filetype to his supported list. The problem with that was that the driver software only worked with MacOS Risc up to Leopard (don’t know about windows), and eventually the power supply petered out and that was the end of that… boo hoo! The PF10K scanner lens is very similar to the lens used in the 3,000 dpi PrimeFilm scanner, you can see that was test here: https://www.closeuphotography.com/primefilm-3650-scanner-lens It's detail. No consumer level flatbed can match the usable resolution that's obtainable with the film scanners mentioned in the thread. For example, the V750, which is no slouch among flatbeds, only delivers about 2300 PPI of usable resolution despite its hardware resolution of 6400 PPI. I’d recommend either of these scanners, although the Plustek is cheaper. The resolution difference may matter, and the Reflecta is a bit faster than the PlustekPlustek scanners are famous for having great dust control, and the OpticFilm 120 affirms that reputation nicely. Both the front and rear negative carrier openings are sealed by a plastic door when the carrier is not inserted. Most digital cameras today create 20~40-megapixel images, which are dramatically less pixel-dense. XA’s resolution is comparable to drum scans, though the number alone won’t tell everything about the level of detail . No more than 20-30MP are usually considered actual image data (with some exceptions ), grain permitting. Though, unlike a monotonous pixel grid, film grain can look interesting, telling, or fascinating, which isn’t bad to have as an option. The star of this test was the Nikon LS-3510AF lens, an awesome performer that costs less than the PF10K! WHAT I LIKE In terms of the figures below, especially for the Firewire times, the PF 3600 PRO appears a fast scanner. What these figures don't show is the time wasted waiting for the scanner to recover from crashes and this really damages any appeal the fast speeds could have offered. Size (Pixels)

Yes, scanning is a pain, and since there are zero options that are affordable and easy enough to use, I have decided to have a lab scan all my film for the time being, and – hard as it is – shoot less so I can still afford it. Also new is that the focus can be adjusted manually. The user defines a pixel on which the focus is set. Furthermore, the scan duration is shortened by a faster film transport, and the effective dynamic range has improved. The scope of supply includes the professional scanning software SilverFast Ai Studio 8 with infrared-based dust and scratch removal (iSRD) and IT8 target for automatic color calibration.Easy-to-Use Interface: The scanner is equipped with an intuitive and user-friendly interface, simplifying the scanning process. The included software provides straightforward controls for adjusting scan settings, cropping images, and saving files in various formats. Users can easily navigate through the scanning workflow, even without prior experience in film scanning. I’ve recently changed to a Reflecta ProScan 10T ( Pacific Image PrimeFilm XE ) because of the 4000ppi resolution on the USAF 1951 target, at 5000ppi resolution in MTF tests - https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64942982
