Description

CBN offers high performance, sharpens any steel, has a low wear rate and little loading, creates no mess and makes no unwanted grooves. Offering greater abrasion resistance and thermal conductivity than conventional abrasives like silicon carbide and aluminum oxide, CBN removes steel quickly and efficiently. This set, consisting of 5 different grits, actually covers everything that needs to be sanded and when.

I believe that there is not normally a "best" stone for sharpening tool steels, but more of an "it depends on what you want out of it" type of answer. At 3″ x 8″ the 306CBN is big enough to handle the largest plane blades and it easily accommodates a honing guide.Super Schleifmedien, mit agressivem “Biss”… mit ÖL und Wasser verwendbar, Abstufungen 100, 200, 400, 800, 1200 passen prima zusammen.

The case is compatible with 6" stones mounted or unmounted on aluminum blanks, total thickness up to 12 mm, width from 0. That appears to be a rather bold statement, are you directing this statement at anyone in particular? Auch ein Abrichten der Steine ist nicht mehr nötig, somit kann man sich voll auf das Schleifen konzentrieren.

With something like a simple Naniwa Multistone 1000 : one can literally grind all day with a creamy slurry created by just a few passes of a flattening plate like an Atoma and NEVER actually reach a strong burr or sharp apex.

Whether this matters or not, I don't know, all I can say for sure is, they get the job done but they aren't the aggressive cutters that I was expecting them to be based on other reviews that I read.Once your edge has all the damage removed and the actual apex is no longer visibly reflecting light -- then you know that you have gotten the apex thin enough to apply a micro-bevel at apex. This is more noticeable with lower grits as the abrasive particles are larger, as you move to finer grits you're less likely to see the difference unless you are really looking for it.

After sharpening several knives with them on a spectrum of steels, I have some observations about their performance. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. First let me say thank you to gritomatic for making so many nice sharpening supplies available, including these stones.I have never been able to get a straight answer on whether CBN or diamond is best for hard tool steels. When choosing an emulsion after sharpening it's best to use an emulsion that's 1 or 2 micron size's smaller then what the micron particle size's are made up of on the last stone you used, the idea is to get the diamonds in the emulsion between the grooves the stone made the same way you floss your teeth for better edge refinement,I choose to strop that way if I'm not going for a perfect mirror polished edge and just a working edge. Btw, don't be afraid of the burr, if someone is, then he knows little to nothing about FH sharpening. CBN’s qualities include high levels of high hardness, strength, abrasion resistance, and thermal and chemical resistance. But on the bright side, you can sharpen your blades without the mess of water stones, and they're gentle enough that you're not likely to remove too much metal by accident.
