Minimal Base that goes on the ground (either by itself or paired with a nicer self inflating sleep pad)- Therm a Rest’s classic sleeping pad is about as basic as it gets, but it does get the job done! If you’re just getting into camping and don’t want to spend a bunch, this is for you! You can sleep on JUST this pad, but it will likely be more comfortable and warmer if you get some other kind of sleeping pad! At these temps, consider investing in an actual sleeping bag. This will help ensure your baby stays warm without having to use a ton of layers and unsafe blankets! (These are all my opinion regarding the temps, so make the best choice for your family!) Can’t I just use my babys snow suit while camping? A good sleeping bag when camping with your baby is only a piece of the puzzle, but it can help with peace of mind knowing that your baby is staying warm at night and safe! The Little Mo from Morrison Outdoors Camping Acrostic Poem which will help your children practise their writing skills and will encourage them to think of different descriptive words. To me, the only safe way to co-sleep while camping is out of the sleeping bag, and on a safe surface such as the pads I mentioned above! Every time I have co-slept has been with my girls OUTSIDE of my sleeping bag!

When babies are SUPER little, this style of swaddle can really help retain warmth. If your baby isn't used to being swaddled then this might not be the choice for you, however, these were perfect for my twins when we were camping (so that I wasn't as paranoid about them freezing at nigh with their little hands and arms exposed!)

If you are looking for some fun outdoor leisure time activity ideas or simply just some summer outdoor activities for children, look no further than this amazing 100 Fun Outdoor Activity Ideas! This handy resource lists a whopping 100 summer outdoor activities for children. There’s a whole range of activities: some can be done independently, and others will need an adult to supervise and join in with the fun. Many of these activities can be completed using natural things often found outside like leaves, twigs or pebbles. Teach children about campfire safety with this fantastic Campfire Safety Poster. The poster contains four campfire safety tips and has a beautifully clear picture to accompany each one so that if children are non-readers they will still be able to understand the rules. Display it in your camping role-play area, or use it to teach children about forest school safety or camping safety for the summer holidays. Use these Camping Early Writing Activities to inspire young children to independently write about camping. While camping with a baby in a much more controlled environment is easy easier than tent camping, there are still some challenges to hurdle!

Going camping is an exciting activity for young children. They experience the outdoors, sleep in a tent, cook their food outside and play many games. If you're going on a camping trip or just planning a small-scale camping activity on your school grounds during the summer term, then why not create a lovely display starting with our beautifully illustrated Camping Icons Bunting? This lovely display bunting adds a lovely touch of colour to the classroom, harnessing your kids' excitement and keeping them happy in class. This resource features various camping-themed illustrations, such as trees, tents, maps, camping chairs and equipment on separate sheets of A4. Wear an easily liftable WARM top layer (I wore sweatshirts) so that you can bring the baby to you at night and easily feed him while not having to worry about getting cold or getting worried about your baby having a hard time breathing/eating while in your sleeping bag! How do you get a baby to sleep while camping? If you like this beautifully illustrated Camping Icons Bunting, then we have a whole range of other resources to help you plan your lessons about Summer and Camping.

Minimal blankets– Try to use minimal blankets as this will reduce the risk that your baby gets tangled in them overnight, or you accidentally pull them over your baby’s head Added insulation in the feet area –We all know how cold little feet can get – the “Little Mo” baby sleeping bag has this covered with added down insulation! Decorative additions like camping bunting bring some fun to any tent, especially if you’re heading to a festival or hosting a garden party. And once you’ve brightened the place up with our bell tent bunting, why not make things extra warm and cosy with a tent throw? Our blankets will instantly add a touch of soft glam to your Boutique bedroom or lounge area. This bunting could also supplement your teaching on camping, as it would provide your young learners with visual aids. Visual aids and displays support children’s learning by enhancing their understanding of a topic and they can boost pupils’ excitement on a subject. Onesie PJs (with feet) – onesies will be your best bet for keeping them the warmest since it’s one continuous piece of clothing and will contain their body heat the best!
