This can be powered from my Transit’s 20A-maximum dashboard socket and it has proved capable of the task I anticipated it could perform.

Ring RAC900 Air Compressor gets 4.5 Stars from Auto Express

The analogue gauge was “more accurate”, the air release valve was noted, as was the fact that “everything goes together via quality brass fittings”.But I have used the compressor built into a jumpstart pack on car and trailer tyres at home occasionally and for modest top-ups that is useful - but it’s not worth carrying its weight in the motorhome. I'm looking for a reliable air compressor myself after finding out that the supplied one on our Burstner is next to useless.

I bought an RAC600 a few years ago, having seen a review, and it was fine on the few occasions I had to use it until it died last year when Jim's flashy red thing started flashing on one of the tyres. I have the RING RAC900 identified by johnDL and can report I have been very pleased with it on my 65 psi tyres. Do it for a few minutes just to raise the pressure by a couple of pounds per square inch when you check your tyre pressures, and you have a good battery that’s charged, and you’ll be OK without running the engine. Inflating a motorhome tyre with a portable 12 volt compressor is likely to burn out the motor before the tyre is up to pressure. Used across the UK by leading breakdown professionals, the RAC900 is a well-respected and highly-rated air compressor.Unfortunately we are going to Norfolk today and in my efforts yesterday to use the useless ones I already have, I have succeeded in reducing the pressure in one of the rear tyres I was trying to blow up! Use it to set your target pressure and the compressor will do the rest, cutting out when it reaches its target to prevent over inflation. Those of us who need to inflate motorhome tyres from zero pressure (eg DIY tyre changes) must be as rare as hen’s teeth in UK so the practical requirement for most of us will be to top up pressures by a few psi if we cannot conveniently drive to a forecourt facility.

Professional High Power Air Compressor, 280W - Ring

Ring Automotive says the RTC1000 can inflate a 13-inch tyre from 0PSI to 35PSI in just under two minutes. The compressor and motor have four rubber feet at the corners which rest on the ground and absorb vibration.Mine is the Halfords Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator { Plus a 4 metre extension lead self made } inflates my Ducato tyres nicely BUT I always give it a 10 minute break after blowing up two tyres -- no point over working it is there ? You could try binding the hole with several layers of good PVC electrical tape if the pipe is clean and the holes are somewhere away from the connectors on the ends.
