Bish and Piirainen were the same age in 1993, and Bish had written a letter of hope to Piirainen's parents in 1993. I really appreciated her weakening resolve to keep it quiet and loved how the mystery finally was revealed to the characters only at the very end. He was sentenced to concurrent sentences of 15-to-18 years on the rape charge and 9-to-10 years on the kidnapping charges. Again, no spoilers, but currently in chapter 3 and I heard Susan and Dutch having a convo about Molly being mad at Dutch.

I don’t want to give spoilers, but I quite liked his demeanor and personality and how seriously he took his job. She knows who murdered her family and she knows that if she is found they will murder her new family as well. The main character often comes across as younger than she is, sometimes unaware of the meaning of words I'd consider relatively simple, which I was confused by at first but then realized it was down to her abnormal childhood. But now the small newspaper where she works wants to produce a podcast on a cold case: the disappearance 12 years ago of young Molly Forster. Although, I do understand that plots like these aren’t for everybody, and that it may trigger emotions. She is the chair of the illustration program at Maine College of Art and also teaches at the Vermont College Writing for Children and Young Adults program. All those questions were answered but it almost felt like they were answered a little too late in the book. Following the murder of Crystal Morrison, Stanger's girlfriend of 20 years, Morrison's sister alerted the Massachusetts authorities.

At times I would forget I was listening to a book and not an actual podcast or behind the scenes of a podcast.

Rodney Stanger, a Florida resident convicted of murdering his girlfriend, had lived in Southbridge, Massachusetts — a few miles from the town of Warren — for more than 20 years. A small newspaper is determined to grow their numbers through a podcast focused on finding the missing girl.

If your best friend was dating the man who murdered your whole family, had never been caught and was still trying to kill you, would you, A) Tell your best friend? Glad I listened as was entertaining listen, but also glad it was on the plus catalogue which gives me the opportunity to experience new authors and narrators.

In addition, Stanger closely matched the description provided by Magi Bish of the man seen in the white sedan the day before Molly Bish's disappearance. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

I know the author has to give us a happy ever after, but I think there was still room in the plot to give Molly’s storyline more air. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley (thank you so much to NetGalley, The Last Bureau and Pikko’s House for the opportunity) in exchange for honest feedback. In the middle of an impossibly vast and blue ocean bobs a private yacht; lounging on the deck is a middle-aged (or older) woman. Four: There are so many convenient coincidences that seem to happen (and I try not to give the plot away here). It’s like the author got all their knowledge about human behavior from made-for-tv Lifetime specials.I had never heard anyone talk about this book until my favorite blogger, Emily Gemma of The Sweetest Thing, mentioned she was listening to it on Audible. Another plot hole to me is earlier in the book when Rachel/Molly pretends to be a friend of a dead Molly Foster on the internet and another stranger chimes in and says that he is a detective. The story follows Rachel Holloway, or as the synopsis says, Molly Forster as she tries to keep her identity hidden when the case of her missing self from over a decade earlier sneaks up on her in her very own place of work. Murdering a serial child rapist is pretty morally sound (at least in my book), but it’s still murder in the eyes of the law. It’s somewhat interesting to imagine what it would be like to bury your original name - create a new identity- re-build a completely new life.
