But not all retinol eye creams are created equally, so we tried a number of top-rated formulations. After using them for weeks at a time, our testers rated each formula's texture, skin feel, and how well it diminished the signs of aging around the eyes. We then combined these results with the recommendations of board-certified dermatologists while considering options for a range of budgets, skin types, and concerns.

Eye Cream SPF 15: This is an interesting product, because it aims to moisturize the skin while providing SPF protection. There are certainly many face moisturizers on the market with sun protection, but this Murad Essential-C eye cream was specifically formulated for the gentle skin around the eyes. It contains ingredients like urea, to draw moisture to the treatment area; butylene glycol, to condition the skin; as well as UV neutralizers like octisalate, homosalate, and avobenzone. Murad Post Acne Spot Lightening Gel is a skin-lightening gel treatment that fades post-acne skin discoloration and acne dark spots. The main active ingredient in this gel is hydroquinone, which is considered to be the gold standard for treating hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone works by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase, the key enzyme involved in the formation of melanin (the pigment that gives skin color). Murad Post Acne Spot Lightening Gel also contains willow bark extract and tea tree oil to help purify the skin. You will also find glycolic acid in this gel. Glycolic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that exfoliates dead skin cells and increases the rate of cell turnover, leading to smoother, more radiant skin. The idea behind Murad Essential-C is to give consumers a skin care option that delivers powerful antioxidants, as well as some effective UV protection. The Murad Hydrating Toner is an excellent alcohol-free alternative for traditional toners, in a convenient, facial spray format. This lightweight mist helps to rehydrate dehydrated skin while also neutralizing surface impurities which can impact the overall health and wellbeing of your skin. The formula behind this product utilizes a range of beneficial ingredients including sodium PCA, chamomile and cucumber extracts as well as lecithin. Sodium PCA helps to improve hydration as well as calm inflammation in the skin. Ginseng is an herbal ingredient that, when applied topically, can reduce inflammation, boost hydration, and protect the skin barrier. All that is to say, this stuff is the secret sauce when it comes to gentle yet effective anti-aging skincare. Cleanser: The cleanser in the Murad Essential-C line is designed to remove dirt and oil buildup from the skin, while at the same time repairing damage. The primary forces behind this face wash are vitamins A, C and E. These are powerful antioxidants that stimulate skin cell repair, to mitigate damage caused by free radicals. Further, vitamin A can be metabolized into retinoic acid, which helps boost proper skin cell function. In our opinion, Murad products are worth the money, but there are other brands that deliver greater value.

LisaB Gentle and effective eye cream I'm in my late 50's and absolutely love this product and have been using it for over a year now. Absorbs easily, makes my deep set eyes look less tired and leaves my skin soft and smooth. My only negative comment is that because the bottle is opaque you have no idea when your last drop will appear, rather than being prepared for the moment! When Dr Murad launched his eponymous skincare line in 1989 it was the first physician branded product line to hit the market. He is also credited with launching the first medical spa, as well as pioneering the use of alpha hydroxyl and beta hydroxyl acids, and pinpointed stress as a major health threat. What is Dr Murad’s philosophy? Daily Renewal Complex: This Murad Essential-C cream was created to repair skin damage caused by UV radiation and other environmental factors. To achieve this, the cream is formulated with ascorbic acid, a powerful antioxidant; rice amino acids, to promote skin cell repair; tocopheryl acetate, a version of vitamin E (also an antioxidant); and capric triglyceride, a skin moisturizer. Cary E. Excellent product I really love this product. It is light and sinks in well. For me it made a noticeable difference to the fine lines around my eyes as well as helping with the dark circles. I completely recommend it. My only bugbear is that I cannot tell when it is about to run out.Interestingly, although the name of this Murad label seems to suggest vitamin C as the cornerstone ingredient, vitamin C doesn’t actually seem to play a pivotal role in the collection. For example, Murad doesn’t tout the benefits of vitamin C for skin care (which are plentiful, by the way). We didn’t mind it, but we occasionally experienced a slight tingling sensation immediately after application. It’s not a dealbreaker for us, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you have super-sensitive skin. Research suggests that when topically applied, vitamin C can help protect the skin from a whole slew of concerns, including signs of aging, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, dryness, and uneven skin tone. It's also an antioxidant, which helps protect the skin from aggressors in the environment, like UV rays and pollution, that can damage the skin . This vitamin C serum is intended strictly for the under-eye area and went on very smoothly—during testing. We found that a pea-sized amount can cover both under-eyes—and even helps makeup, like dark circle concealer, go on more evenly. With a couple of weeks of use , we experienced an improvement in the brightness of our under eyes. While the results weren’t the most drastic (you can’t really get rid of dark circles completely), we appreciated looking a bit more well-rested in the morning. Vitamin C can irritate the skin, but we didn’t experience any sensitivity, even on a tester with very sensitive skin. Hydration is the name of the game for the under-eye area and we really enjoyed this formula during testing. It leans on Greek yogurt (yes, the kind you eat) to nourish the skin around the eyes while a double shot of caffeine diminishes dark circles and puffiness. Retinol is the go-to anti-aging ingredient recommended by dermatologists and skin experts. It’s clinically proven to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores.
