Netgear has two similar Orbi Whole Home Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Systems with the RBK753 and RBK853 models. So, what are the main differences between these two products? The router and satellite units of the RBK853 are also bigger in size when compared to the router and satellite units of the RBK753. The RBK753 and RBK853 are equipped with the same amount of LAN and WAN ports. With that said, the WAN port of the RBK853 supports faster speeds than the WAN port of the RBK753. The satellite on the second floor has nothing hard-wired to it except ethernet in from the router. The satellite in the basement has ethernet in from the router, and three ethernet out connections, one of which goes to my workstation for work. The RBK853 router and satellites use a faster processor when compared to the RBK753 router and satellites.

The first thing to report is that these are the highest wireless speeds we’ve received in any product we have tested to date. Compared to the TP-Link Deco X20 which peaked at 397 Mbps and previous Netgear Orbi systems at even less, the RBK853 is in a different class. In two locations where our usual BT wireless could not even match our internet connection of 50Mbps, here the Orbi triple set comfortably filled that void and smashed the speeds usually received. Using iPerf, which is a free software tool that can measure bandwidth between two nodes in a computer network and the quality of a network link, we first tested our existing BT wireless using our main PC as the server and our iPhone 12 as the client. The test options were 5 streams with a duration of 5 minutes. Streams are particularly important with Wi-Fi 6, compared with the older 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5 standard. When Wi-Fi 6 devices connect, the router can decide to give each device its own stream, or a faster device can take multiple streams to boost the maximum throughput. Wi-Fi 5’s stream sharing is far more basic and restricted, and the standard is slower overall.Each router and satellite unit of the RBK753 mesh system comes with six internal antennas with amplifiers. You can also use this application to run speed tests, manage Netgear subscription services, see what devices are currently connected and more. Support As you can see from the graph below, the new Orbi Wi-Fi 6 is far faster than the previous model, the RBK50. Of course, the system, depending on how these things are tested prior to boxing, are the RBS and RBR tested pre-synced to ensure they work? The RBK753 is capable of supporting 8 simultaneous streams while the RBK753 is capable of supporting 12 streams at the same time. Router and Satellites ProcessorYa, something that won't be seeing in the user manual I believe thought something should be documented. When a reset happens, especially on the RBR, this should clear ALL sync data and should return the system to default settings.

I got smart and switched the satellites. Interestingly, the satellite I brought to the basement from the second floor, which previously never had a problem, began to display this behavior.
