So we join the Butler family in the 1980s and when I say there is a lot going on, I really mean it. All of the loved and loathed characters make their reappearances and they all seem to be at different stages of their life. Out of all the characters that surprised me in this series the major one has been Little Vinny. It seems Little Vinny has done his utmost to turn his life around following the arrival of his little boy. He is determined not to follow in his father’s footsteps, and even knowing what had gone on in the past I couldn't help rooting for him. Vinny is his usual bolshie and arrogant self and frankly I’m surprised he is still breathing after everything that has happened. I should warn those of a nervous disposition there is a very upsetting scene involving a child, but those use to the authors work know she keeps her books ‘real’ and that includes subjects that are often difficult to read about.Kimberly Chambers is one of those rare authors who has a gift for creating colourful characters, that are larger than life, you feel you know them inside out, and despite their flaws a small part of you can’t help but fall in love with everyone of the Bonds, even the ‘not rights’. it’s a testament to the authors writing that she can make you laugh and cry at their antics, love and hate them, all in the space of a few minutes! I did cringe at one part but I totally understand why, as we need to be reminded how dangerous these men are.

Vinnie senior hasn't changed much despite his years, Vinnie junior is seemingly a changed man but somethings you just can't leave behind & Michael is about to be tested to the limit. The family is full of drama and very much live by the sword, die by the sword, the time has come for debts to be settled but who will pay?

Some called it The Rave Year, others The Second Summer of Love. For Eddie Mitchell and his family it is neither. 1988 is the year in which his whole dangerous, violent world explodes around him. Vinny oh Vinny ....... is over the moon to be working alongside Eddie. Vinny is now aged 56 and life is looking good and certainly on the up, new club and at last he has met the one woman who might just be someone he wants to settle down with. Of course, we have QUEENIE, the matriarch of the Butler clan. So proud of her sons. In the previous books I found most of her actions and words were real LOL moments. They were missing in this book. At least I thought so. It just came across as a darker book. Maybe the author intended it to be that way. The Butlers are crazy, I mean crazy and as I've said previously they really have no redeeming qualities but I love the way the author tells their story. This must be made into a tv series one day. And as I said with the last bookThe Wronged, I didn't believe Kimberley could match it, By god how this woman likes to prove you wrong. she's freakin smashed it with this book. And this book just show's why Kimberley Chambers is the favourite author of many, many people. She is certainly one of my all time favourite authors.

Michael and Vinny were not just ‘faces’ around the East End they were the East End as far as the locals were concerned, it was their manor. Nothing happened there without them knowing, nobody crossed them without being brought up before them, they ruled with a rod of steel and pure fear. Queenie and her sister Viv were the matriarchs of the family, loved by the family and also equally feared. Kimberley Chambers is one of those unique writers that can make dysfunctional families addictive reading. There is no escaping the evil that runs through the veins of Vinny Butler and his family. Eddie Mitchell knows this but being a villain himself he decides to go into business with the guy. He can handle Vinny and the likes of him but when the shit hits the fan Eddie wonders if it is all worth it. What the hell has he gotten himself into!So what are the new Kimberley Chambers books releasing in 2022 or beyond? As the years pass we are able to see the very complicated relationship of brothers and cousins develop in interesting and competing ways. Dan the growing presence of the family while Little Vinny is the businessman of the next generation, and how the women of the family can see through all the men and get to the heart of the matter. If one was looking for marriage or relationship advice the last people you would be the Butler family. My review will be vague. I don't want to give anything away. I found the first part of the book a little slow. I suppose because it is the grand finale for a series of 7 books, I think. She had to build and sort of tell us what happened in the past. I guess this is so it can be read as a stand-alone (which I don't think it can or should - you need to experience the whole Butler/Mitchell/O'Hara story from the previous books) I loved every bit of this book, and I don't think my words will get across just how freaking good this series of books has been.
