Satellite Awards Announce Nominations, 'Ford v Ferrari' Leads the Way". Archived from the original on December 9, 2019 . Retrieved December 6, 2019. Tourmaline's relationship with new girl Vignette, a faerie from the provinces, is poisoned by both herself, and her shitty "friends." The relationship takes up only about half of this very short production, and feels rushed. I didn't feel the love between these two at all. It doesn't end like a romance, which was somewhat of a relief. I wouldn't expect even a HFN with these two. While season 1 focused more on the Burgue, season 2 was on a much larger scale as the show continued with its world-building and introduction of several factions, supernatural creatures, landscapes and different types of societies. If the show had not been cancelled, we would have loved a deeper dive into Ragusa, the Pact and the New Dawn in season 3. Joanne Whalley as Leonora (season 2), a faun with a broken horn and leader of the New Dawn revolutionary movement.

Tirnanoc is one of the ancestral homelands of the Fae, long considered a place of myth and legend to the nations of man, and the original home of Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevigne). Seven years prior to the start of Carnival Row, The Burgue withdrew from the Great War. Tirnanoc fell under the harsh control of their rivals, The Pact. Bullets and barbed wire traps fill the air of the once-idyllic land. The Pact violently slaughter the Fae, forcing them to flee to the Burgue. The Pact It was clear there was confidence in the series – so much so Prime Video confirmed season two was on its way a full month before the first eight episodes launched. Mark Lewis Jones as Magistrate Flute, the head constable in the Burgue who urges solidarity amongst his officers and frequently butts heads with Philo over his concern for the fae's welfare.

Karla Crome appears as Tourmaline Larou, an old friend of Vignette's who was also once her lover. In Tirnanoc, the fae homeland, she was a Poet Laureate but now she's a courtesan at the Tetterby Hotel in Carnival Row.

The last big aspect of the world we need to talk about is magic. As with “Game of Thrones,” magic is not prevalent in everyday life in the Burgue for most people. But magical happenings are important to the events of “Carnival Row.” One prominent character is a Haruspex, who is able to see the future. This wasn’t a naturally occurring phenomenon, at least for this specific character — she received that power by killing a previous Haruspex when she was young. Granted, it fared better with fans, but the team had their work cut out for them if they were to turn Carnival Row into a long-term venture. Tourmaline Larou is living an idyllic life, spending her time learning by day and partying by night. She is an aspiring poet with nothing less than brilliance in her future. When Vignette Stonemoss walks into her life things are upended and may never be the same again for either of them. Their world is turned upside down as they are being threatened by humans who look down on them and the fae world as a whole. War is on the horizon, and their very existence is at stake. We’ve only just scratched the surface of this new world, and who knows how different Carnival Row will look as we enter season two. In a world of faeries, anything could happen. Carnival Row and its world return for more episodes on February 17.

Table of Contents

This was something different from my usual reads but it did give me good vibes. I have only watched a couple of episodes of the show but did enjoy them. The characters are very vivid and well-drawn making what happens to them much more meaningful. I followed the story here much better than on the show maybe because it is a little better laid out with only a couple of characters to contend with.
