As with last year's Octomore releases, all three of these whiskies will be available in the U.S. (previously, the .2 was typically available exclusively in Travel Retail). Octomore's claim to fame is being the world's most heavily peated whisky, and these certainly deliver eye-popping phenol content for the peat lovers out there. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. B and B-: Good and above average. The best of the mass market whiskeys fit in this category, as do the bulk of the premium brands. A B- is three stars.

This is the third Basil Hayden line extension since August of 2021, following the release of Toastand Subtle Smoke. Beam just celebrated the 30 th anniversary of its small batch line, which includes Basil Hayden, Booker's, Baker's, and Knob Creek, and was created by 6 th-generation master distiller Booker Noe. Now his grandson is leading innovation at Beam, with Freddie at the helm of the new Fred B. Noe Distillery in Clermont. The one aims to appeal to wine drinkers and whiskey lovers alike.

I have been mesmerized by the Sakura cask for the last five years now due to its symbolism, but also because of its distinctive, subtly floral and spicy aroma and flavor notes,” said fifth-generation chief blender Shinji Fukuyo in a prepared statement . “There have been many experiments with malt and grain whisky components, and we found that there was a special alchemy between the grain whiskies and the Sakura cask. It is this special relationship – harmony – that inspired me to create this blend.” Non-Age Statement: This whisky is a non-age statement blend, allowing for a more complex flavor profile. Specifications: Also distilled from 100% Scottish barley and malted to 137.3 ppm, this is aged entirely in oloroso sherry casks. According to Fukuyo, achieving the right balance and blend was challenging. Sakura cask exerts a strong influence on the whisky, which can be overbearing when not managed properly. The wood is also porous, which can cause over-oxidation and leakage. Can you believe Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky launched in 2017? Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. This particular blend has the added intrigue of incorporating whisky finished in sakura casks. Sakura wood – or Japanese cherry – attracted chief blender Shinji Fukoyo due to “its symbolism, but also because of its distinctive, subtly floral and spicy aroma and flavour notes”. This release honors the sakura, which is the Japanese word for cherry blossom. The sakura is Japan's national flower, and cherry blossom season in Japan is a major celebratory occasion throughout the country. The blossoming carries a great deal of meaning for the Japanese people, who see it as symbolizing life's joy and beauty, but also of its transience. The House of Suntory , which is the founding House of Japanese whisky, was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii when he opened the first official malt whisky distillery in Yamazaki. Since then The House of Suntory has created what’s considered to be some of the most highly-awarded blended whiskies on the international market as well as some of the most prestigious and honored whiskies in the world. Torii was a pioneering whisky maker whose goal was to create authentic western-style spirits that would appeal to Japanese tastes. Hibiki, meaning “resonance” or “echo” in Japanese, is said to encapsulate the philosophy of The House of Suntory, which is ‘To Create Harmony with People and Nature.’ For this expression, fifth generation chief blender Shinji Fukuyo wanted to focus on the wood. “I have been mesmerised by the sakura cask for the last five years now due to its symbolism, but also because of its distinctive, subtly floral and spicy aroma, and flavour notes,” he said. Each and every Member must be of legal drinking age in its country of residence to be allowed to use the Service. At this point, a new release of The Vaults is cause for excitement, as every previous release has proven delicious—last year's edition scored 93 points, while the 2020 whiskey scored a 94. While it will be available nationwide through the holiday season, it is on allocation, so keep your eyes peeled in-store and online if you're hoping to secure a bottle. Expert Blending: The Hibiki Blossom Harmony 2022 is crafted by chief blender Shinji Fukoyo, ensuring a harmonious and balanced whisky. Japanese whisky producer House of Suntory will release a limited-edition bottling of Hibiki Harmony Japanese whisky that was finished in sakura wood casks, according to The Spirits Business. As with other Hibiki expressions, this release blends whiskies from Suntory malt distilleries Yamazaki and Hakushu, as well as its grain whisky distillery Chita. Chief blender Shinji Fukuyo likes to experiment with a variety of wood types, and chose the cherry wood cask for this one.

First released in 1997 as a limited edition, the 30 year old is a blend of malt and grain whiskies, all aged 30 years or more. It's an annual release, always in very limited quantities. Batch 10 was released in 2019 with only 240 bottles sent to the U.S. Aged for 27 years, that whisky scored 93 points. Fall is in full swing, and so are new whisky launches. In a burst of good news for Pappy fans, the 2022 Van Winkle lineup has been announced, and with it the word that more bottles than usual are available this year. Does that mean it'll be easier to get your hands on one ahead of the holiday season? Not necessarily, but here's to staying optimistic. The Van Winkle whiskeys aren't the only specialty releases making their debut this week. There are two new whiskies from Hibiki—a cherrywood-finished blend and a 30 year old whisky—both of which are highly limited. Knob Creek, meanwhile, has introduced a rarity of its own, an 18 year old bourbon that marks its oldest release to date, and High West has unveiled the 10th edition of A Midwinter Night's Dram, along with a distillery-exclusive special to commemorate the 10th anniversary. From Scotland, Glendronach has debuted Grandeur Batch 11—aged for 28 years—while Gordon & Macphail is offering three new ultra-limited, ultra-aged bottlings. Read on for full details.
