It’s as disturbing as it is visually inspired, made all the more so for the fact that Walter’s eyes, if he even has any, are never seen throughout the series, perpetually obscured behind the eerie reflection of his glasses.

How can you forgive anyone not only for their role in such an act, but selfishly forcing their loved ones to live with the weight of those deaths on their shoulders? All of the characters are a little hard to keep apart from one another, which is the main reason I'm only giving this 4 stars: I think a cast of characters this large doesn't work well in a graphic novel unless the art style lends well to telling everyone apart, and that isn't the case here. But also, despite the claim it was only going to be a 12 issue story, it doesn’t actually end and will continue on for another season likely since it is rather profitable. John Dodge has been an avid consumer of comic books and nerd culture for as long as he can remember.

The only thing they really have in common is a friendship (however dated) with the home's owner Walter.

That same year, he released the GLAAD Media Award-nominated comic title Memetic with artist Eryk Donovan and Award-winning The Woods with Michael Dialynas at Boom Studios. this alien loves its little humans, its circle of friends and types, gathered together in its nice house on the lake. This installment wasn't as compelling as the first, but I'm with the other reviewers who say that things were tied up to a satisfactory degree in this one and I would be okay with it if this is the end of the story.

A nice house, far enough away from the hectic pace of modern life to make you think you were the last people on Earth - and then it turns out that you are! It’s this tension between love and cruelty, friendship and betrayal that drives so much of the drama, mystery, and appeal of The Nice House on the Lake and secures it as one of the most remarkable comic series of 2022. an era of communication breakdown and bodies sick and changing, transforming, and minds seeing through a glass darkly. all abstractions, all generalizations, treat words and images and people and thoughts as units existing in some matrix of comparison.

This was interesting to read directly after plowing through three volumes of Something is Killing… in a weekend. Walter is an interesting character and we really feel his struggle, though still empathize more with the others who we unfortunately only really know in their context to Walter and never quite get to know as themselves much. It's very impressive how Tynion IV juggles such a large cast and makes each of the characters distinctive and valuable.

if when someone said that their graphic novel was planned for 12 issues and done, then it was actually 12 issues and done.
