Roll into small balls (you should be able to make 16-20) and place them spaced out on your baking tray (you may need a couple of trays depending on size). Push down gently with your fingers so they are a little less ball like and more biscuit like (you can see the ridges in the picture). These do spread in the oven so don’t completely flatten them. By incorporating a book which children naturally love into learning activities, children can expand their knowledge and learn whilst still having fun. This is called Interest based learning or interest based play and it’s a fantastic way to help little ones to develop a love of books. Literacy Skills – Talking about the activity as it is completed is a great way to get early years children talking and using their words. In case you haven’t noticed, World Book day is almost upon. Here is my very easy and most favourite chocolate biscuit recipe with a little Gruffalo twist.

BBC One - The Gruffalo BBC One - The Gruffalo

Once the biscuits have cooled you can start your decorating. I am afraid I didn’t take any pictures from here on out. Now it is time to put the kettle on and enjoy eating your Gruffalo sugar biscuits while you finish listening to the Gruffalo with your little one. In fact last year we went on a fantastic Gruffalo Trail with my daughter Sylvia. It was so much fun and we really enjoyed looking for Gruffalo Characters on our adventure. How the Gruffalo Jigsaw Puzzles Can Help Kids Learn Problem Solving Skills – Solving small problems can help with cognitive development and thought processing. These sugar biscuits are one of my favourite recipes. I normally find sugar biscuits too sweet, but these have almond extract in which really helps counterbalance the sweetness. These make the perfect biscuits to turn into Gruffalo sugar biscuits while listening to the Gruffalo story by Tonies. Social Skills – Preschool kids can talk and work together to complete puzzles and socialise at the same time. Whether your looking for fantastic Gruffalo themed ideas as a preschool teacher or whether your a parent at home, there are plenty of fun ideas for you to try. Here is a list of fantastic and fun activities. Fill your sandwich with your chosen filling. Using a large circular cookie cutter create a circle, you might need to flatten with a rolling pin to ensure your sandwich fits. Do not disregard the leftovers as you will need them to complete The Gruffalo. Using some of the leftovers create a small circular nose. I cut this using a knife as I don't have a small enough cookie cutter. To create the eyes, I simply sliced two pieces of carrot. For the eyebrows I cut some of the crust and placed above the carrot eyes. Using some more leftover crust, I added two ears. Next I made the horns and teeth using sliced cheese. I just cut these using a knife. I then shaped a pieces of cucumber into a small circle and placed on the nose for the poisonous wart. Finally, I rolled two raisins into balls and added them to the eyes.

Gruffalo Crumble Recipe World Book Day: No Bake Gruffalo Crumble Recipe

Normally recipes say to put the dough into the fridge as it is, but if you roll out the dough onto parchment paper before putting it into the fridge for at least 30 minutes, it makes it much easier when you take it out. I then included some Organix Cheese & Onion Gruffalo Claws and Organix Cocoa & Vanilla Gruffalo Biscuits. These are available in selected supermarkets. Jigsaw Puzzles are very beneficial and with 9 Gruffalo story scenes to choose from this Ravensburger Puzzle set is in my opinion a brilliant resource to help little ones learn. We really enjoyed receiving this puzzle and it was fun to test out and very well illustrated.Reading stories to kids can be super fun and interesting. Children will often find a book they love such as The Gruffalo and this can then be used as a theme to teach different skills to kids that help aid literacy, learning and development. In another bowl cream the sugar and butter together, then add the vanilla, almond, and egg. Mix again. I remember making Gruffalo Masks with the kids one year and it was a huge hit. The boys suddenly transformed into Gruffalo characters and a whole lot of activity followed. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon role playing outdoors, crafting in the art room and enjoying the theme without being forced to sit and learn the old school way.
