Creampie and breeding fetish is all over the books (mainly the 2nd), not complaining but I think it severely overshadowed other things. Like, there was more focus on semen being too much or staying inside than the sensation of DP or having four d1kcs in the female MC simultaneously. One line review: Scarlett wants to be like Aelin but with this personality she can hardly be Chaol. She's honest, but she's also been broken too many times and it shows. I mean, she went through so much, so it's not surprising her personality took over.

You need to be in the right mood for this to enjoy it. For me, it was exactly what I needed and I could not put it down., and I was so mad when it ended on a cliffy because I need more! Scarlett deserves no one and her constantly entitement to a throne she knows nothing about made me furious. she also can't grasp the fact that she's been taught one side of history and can't accept anything but what she wants to be fact. As long as it doesn't disrupt her views on life.

The spice scenes in this were so so. One of the guys in the harem was portrayed as a big Dom and how other women did not sub well yet the Dom/Sub relationship went no where between him and Harlow. There is a tampon/period scene that was just gross. The word "sprayed" was use excessively in reference to female ejaculation. She is supposed to be strong and take no shit, yet lets the Assassin leader beat her...? Her loved ones are threatened and instead of being strong, building a plan and getting herself out, she walks herself to a cage and cries about it. Her friends are the one who do all the rescuing and saving. Where to start with this review… I have definitely seen both sides - some obsessed with this series & devouring it whole, others finding the FMC annoying, angry & bratty (side note, I hate the word bratty for an FMC 😅) but I can see she is an angry woman & some people feel uncomfortable with that - might want to ask why that is? There’s so much wrong with her character I could write examples for dayss. I just wish she was smarter, stronger and didn’t rely so heavily on the men around her. Our female MC is -as they often are- a weakling. No, that's not doing her justice. She is a complete wuss. She can't even run 100 meters when we first meet her (but of course the men make her run 5 miles by the end of the second book) and she can't do sit ups or push ups or whatever without throwing up. However, early in the first book she wields, swings and kills someone with an effin' sword which weighs about 8-10 kg if you 've ever lifted one. Furthermore, she is a street artist (but mostly tagger blerh!). A well known street artist too, therefore quite active, and somehow the author wants us to believe she can't run but has never been arrested. Uhm, ma'am, in a post Mayor-Giulliani-era, street artists in New York are being chased, caught and persecuted so no, it doesn't work. She ain't no Banksy.

Publication Order of Lady of Darkness Books

This is going to be a review for both books of the series actually, so brace yourselves, it's gonna be long. The first half of this book was not good (like, I almost DNF'd). I started this book in April and just finished it now in June. However, the last half of this book was really, really good. And now...damn it all to hell...I think I have to keep reading this series. This is good fun. In 1970s San Francisco, a middle-aged recovering alcoholic and writer of science-fiction/fantasy stories is drawn into a mystery involving a decades-old book called Megapolisomancy (in which the author, the fictional T. de Castries, suggests that the accumulation of steel, concrete, electricity and other elements in large modern cities, combined with certain geometrical realities related to buildings and the layouts of streets, may serve the incubation of occult forces) and the San Francisco-based writers (George Sterling, Amrbose Bierce, Clark Ashton Smith and Nora May French among them) de Castries tried to recruit as acolytes, a few of whom later died, perhaps, under questionable circumstances. Scarlett has absolutely no regard for others and constantly guilt trips Sorin into getting her way. And not in a cunning way that Aelin does it that has you applauding. Scarlett just does shit and holds people to a standard that she refuses to return.
