The book was also unique in my opinion. I rarely meet a romance book that basically covers an important family aspect, with funny and adorable kids being the center of it. What particularly impressed me was how Jake's profession became a huge part of the story. This tall, smart, and sexy attorney... He is so adept in his profession that he can really defend the poor little kids against the people who are trying to separate them from Chelsea. I can never get enough of him! Emma, thanks for another fantastic read! Simply the best! I'm so hooked on these sexy, hot lawyers and really looking forward to Brent's! Then one day, Jake's life gets real complicated and messy when he meets Chelsea McQuaid, recent guardian to her 6 nieces and nephews.I love Kate because she's smart and sassy, vulnerable and kind - and she knows how to have a good time. Now these children, they are complete handful, but they also show that the juice is worth the squeeze. This isn't the life Chelsea or Jake planned for themselves, but these kids add so much value and depth to them. They make them better people. I was so impressed with each of their characters and the development behind their personalities. you know, i really thought i would hate Jake the whole time because of his introduction but i- i sLOWLY started to love him??

This book was definitely one of my favorites of the year. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun, light-hearted romance to swoon over and fall in love with! Trust me, this one's a winner!! This was a lovely short story about Jake and Chelsea's family with their 6 crazy kids creating chaos everywhere...and in the process of adding a new addition in the madness that kept them in their toes! Of course we see the other characters too and the epilogue was a bittersweet closure for this series, I really ENJOYED everything about it though! Chelsea McQuaid at only twenty-six years of age; had to change her life around in a blink of an eye. Overnight her life came crashing down after an awful accident that left her to care for her six nephews and nieces. It was definitely a challenge but she never thought twice about taking the responsibility. She knew very well that she wall all these kids had and she was going to be there for them. I really liked her courage and how human she was having to deal with the death of her brother and grief; and then having to be strong for all the little ones watching and depending on her.And my whispered words slice the stillness of the moment. “All of this only works if you’re here. It begins with you, it ends . . .” Something inside me crumbles, under the weight of all the things I want. I want her--this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children--whom she loves with every inch of her soul. I want them to be mine. Mine to hold, mine to protect and teach. Their joy, their laughter, their love. I want to come home to it, bask in it, be the reason for it. But even more than that, I want to deserve them. I walk to my closet for a T-shirt and sweatpants, then silently head out to the kitchen. Now instead of grad school, she’s changing diapers and taking kids to practices and school events. Guys aren’t even on her radar right now. Until Jake comes into the picture. Chelsea and Jake were wonderful together. I loved the build up when it came to their relationship.

Sustained is a beautiful story. I SUPER ENJOYED it. I laughed, and yes, even cried. The chemistry and banter between Chelsea and Jake just worked for me. The kids were an extra element and it made the story. The way the story arc unfurls is highly engaging. The layers of depth tinged with their turbulent individual histories showcase their character traits, their vulnerabilities, their hopes, fears and sadness. There's a moment with a judge that felt delicate and beautiful with heartfelt emotions that made me burst with book love and brought unexpected tears to my eyes. Jake has a genuine heart and cares deeply about others leading me onto the stunning dynamic of the large supporting cast of characters who made my heart melt several times over. The way Emma Chase showcases the personalities of the children, their adventures and intermingling relationship with Jake and Chelsea is effortless with seamless transitions making the intelligent and witty writing glide gracefully through the mind. Something inside me crumbles; I want her-this fearless, stunning woman. And I want the kids. Those perfect, awful, amazing children…But even more than that, I want to deserve them. To be worthy.” Jake This is an old release, so it’s possible you’ve read it. But if you’re like me and your idea of sexy is watching some selfish bastard get domesticated by six wonderful kids and her aunt who as cliché as she might be (beautiful face & perfect body) is also capable and loving, then Sustained is right up your alley.All i’m gonna say is that Sidebarred is a short but sweet epilogue for Sustained, if you enjoyed reading Sustained, then i can guarantee that you will LOVE Sidebarred. It was absolute perfection.
