Technical Specifications

Stints with the remastered Dead Space and Marvel’s Midnight Suns proved that this is an incredibly performant games machine, ready to run anything you can throw at it over the next few years without dropping detail levels or losing out on ray-traced effects. You probably won’t even need to switch to Turbo mode in the majority of cases, which is good as, while Asus’s cooling seems extremely efficient, it also gets pretty noisy. In Performance mode, it’s silent during everyday tasks, and still fairly quiet during gaming. All these offer more or less the same runtimes on battery power with daily use, streaming, and heavier multitasking, but with a slight advantage in efficiency for the configurations with the regular IPS displays. An IPS screen is also available on some Scar 16 configurations with this generation, but now in all regions. You will find it on all the ROG Strix G16 models.

Above the display is a 720p webcam, which isn't much to write home about, but it works. The color quality is decent, but not fantastic (my skin tones always looked redder than in reality), and it struggles with varying light levels. However, its biggest issue is the resolution, which will make you the most pixelated kid on the Zoom call. It's a shame that this Strix couldn't receive the same 1080p webcam sold on competing models like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 8. Powered by NVIDIA DLSS 3, the ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace arch, and Max-Q Technologies, the Katana 17 B13V delivers exceptional gaming graphics with lifelike details, vibrant colours, and lightning-fast performance. The laptop's HD webcam ensures that you can stay connected with friends and family during gaming breaks, and the USB 3.2 and HDMI ports provide easy connectivity to external devices.Furthermore, both these Scars are an up to 230W total power crossload design: 55W CPU + 175 GPU. For reference, a few other performance laptops are 250W total power designs, such as the MSI Raider GE78, with the difference being on the CPU side. When you need to plug into the big screen, the dedicated GPU powers an HDMI 2.1 port for the latest TVs and monitors, increasing total bandwidth from 18 to 48Gbps, and supporting up to 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz content.? Two USB Type-C ports allow for plenty of connectivity-one for DisplayPort and power delivery, and a second with Thunderbolt 4 support. W (~5-6 h of use) – 1080p fullscreen video on Youtube in Edge, Silent Mode, screen at 50%, WiFi ON;

All in all, RTX 40 series gaming laptops are the best that a gamer can get. From high-end graphics to top-notch performance and zero lags, these laptops are sure to take your gaming experience to another world.

Attempting to calibrate the display on this multi-zone mode doesn’t fix the recorded imbalances in gamma, white point, and DeltaE color accuracy. Thus, I wouldn’t use this mode for color-accurate work, as previously explained. Just like on the Scar 18, though, I noticed some coil whining on this sample, but only when launching any demanding load, in the 5-10 seconds before the fans start spinning. I haven’t experienced electronic noises with daily use, though. I also haven’t experienced persistent coil whining on the Silent profile, once the fans start spinning. Dominate the Windows 11 battlefield with the all-new ROG Strix SCAR 16.?Introducing a 16-inch screen to the SCAR lineup for the first time, see the enemy more clearly than ever before. Powered by a 13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13980HX processor and NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4080 Laptop GPU, the SCAR easily handles even the most demanding games.
