The new Flow cushion is very comfortable while staying low to the ground and fast. While it won’t it be for some people, it’s a dream setup for a shifty guard. It’s been a while since the all-new Curry Flow 8 has released, and now we got the next iteration – the Curry Flow 9. The materials consist of a flexible knit upper that is comfortable with synthetic overlays for structure. This is a pure gym shoe, through and through. That won’t matter to certain players, but it’s a bit of a bummer that anyone who enjoys playing outside will need to look elsewhere. Protection The shoe just felt different the moment I’ve put it on. I’m not going to go all the way and say “it’s the true next-generation shoe” because who knows what that even means.

Once you’re fully cleared and don’t feel that the ankle’s bothering you anymore, I’d stay away from regular use of braces. Unless you’re Steph Curry and playing in the NBA 82+ games per year with constant battles with injuries lol. Going up 1/2 a size myself and having a very wide foot, these still felt just a little too compact compared to how I’d ideally prefer. Although it might not be the size itself but how the internals of the shoe are constructed. If I have one big gripe with the Curry 8 it’s the impact protection. The shoes have a solid amount of cushion and their fit is nice. However, you’re definitely going to feel it when you come down hard. They seem more suited at giving you lift during runs than jumping. The Kyrie 7 is similar to the Curry 8 in that it manages to give you support and power without being too heavy or bulky. It then adds to that with a surprising amount of durability thanks to the tough rubber sole and powerful, long-lasting construction. This shoe can take a beating. The Under Armour Curry 8 weighs 12.2oz/346g, on the light end for basketball shoes (average weight is 13.6oz/387g), which is what I expected given the previous history of the Curry line and his playstyle.Another excellent guard option, the Dame 7 is a lightweight shoe that’s responsive, springy, and feels great on all courts. Though the support isn’t as well-rounded as the Curry 8, it still delivers a lot of mobility thanks to the open design and sleek, low-profile construction. I would recommend the Curry 8 solely for indoor play, due to the thinner grooves used on the outsole. The shoe will still play well outdoors but the soft outsole used will rub away very rapidly and then lessen the effectiveness of the traction when then used indoors. Breathability is commendable I don’t usually like to go all the way in calling a shoe a “next-gen” shoe due to its innovations tech-wise or design-wise for that time period, but you know what? I could be able to pull it off with the Splash Brother’s first independent brand shoe, the Curry 8 Flow by Curry Brand& Under Armour. The upper of the Curry uses a knit build that has very solid ventilation. In multiple active 2-hour shoot around my foot never felt noticeably hot and there was also never noticeable sweat buildup that I sometimes experience when wearing other shoes.

The upper is so minimal and flimsy, there aren’t enough strong support features in place to hold your foot together if you’re heavier or you’ve got an explosive/athletic playstyle. The upper’s a lightweight knit with minimal reinforcements so while it’s very comfortable and efficient, it might not last as long.

The medial sections of the foam do come out a little more, which does help plant off the inside foot more confidently. There’s also a small torsional plate for some torsional rigidity. Pin image source: underarmour.com Support and foot containment is the only weaker area simply because of the extremely minimalistic build. High-flyers or 7-footers might need something a bit sturdier. Another aspect of this is the flat knit upper, which provides excellent breathability. Where some lightweight options are much too stuffy for long games, the Curry 8 comes with high-end ventilation that will keep you cool even in the hottest of environments. This is an extremely responsive shoe. This is another area where the UA Flow cushioning technology comes in handy. The shoe is light and bouncy. That helps you both run and jump, giving you a strong platform to work with. And two, it does all that significantly more comfortably than the rest of the Curry sneaker lineup. More impact protection this time and, although minimal, but a slight bounce feel underfoot. Pin image source: underarmour.com

I feel like this setup is pretty much made for Curry as he wears his hardcore tank-looking ankle braces, so I guess he’s set.

Just like most people/reviewers were reporting – the shoe has a slight issue with keeping your foot 100% in place due to the incredibly minimal upper. Pair that with a slightly elevated heel area, and my toes were in a war. The cushion is also nice and comfortable while providing great court feel and responsiveness. Reviewers considered it the best cushion of the Curry lineup. Alright, the Curry 8 review has concluded! I gotta say, this was one of the more interesting testing phases I’ve done recently. For hoopers who like what Under Armour has to offer but perhaps looking for something a bit more streamlined and something that would work for more styles/positions – look no further than the Embiid One.

Pros: Excellent ankle protection. UA flow cushioning technology. Lightweight, open design. Amazing grip. Flexible and stable.Do they fit true to size or should you alter your choice? What about comfort? Pin image source: underarmour.com SIZING: UP 1/2 A SIZE
