No surprise here that The Spirit of Anglesey Gin is inspired by the beautiful coast of Anglesey, an island off the north-west coast of Wales. This maturation brings depth and warming notes to the herbaceous Welsh gin, somewhat similar to a jenever. This is distilled in Penderyn in Wales and probably one of the best Gins out there, I say one of the best because the best is their special reserve which Morrisons do not sell unfortunately. This is a fine quality distilled gin using botanicals from the four corners of the world and bottled at Penderyn Distillery using water from the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The star botanicals here are sweet violet and wild thyme, making for a well-balanced sweet and savoury flavour profile. Still packs plenty of juniper and herbaceous elements, but it's all wrapped up in yummy lemon brightness.

The nose is a rich complex of fresh juniper, followed quickly by coriander and a complexity of gin flavours. On adding a mixer, the citrus, lemon, orange – and even bergamot – open out, as do hints of cinnamon, cloves and even saffron.
