Description

Usually, these Bibles have loads of study notes underneath the text, plus maps, diagrams, cross-references, and dozens of other helpful tools. The Quest Study Bible was first created in 1989 by the Zondervan publishing company and Christianity Today International. The bible was developed in a way that would provide readers with the ability to provide persons with answers to challenging life questions. Some of these questions may already be in your mind while some of them may arise as you read through the scripture.

It is one of a few full-color options on the market and is a scholarly bible study guide with contributions from well-known Bible Scholars from major Universities. It is truly best described as “comprehensive” and you can guess this from the size. Bottom line: When it comes to choosing the best study Bible, I would recommend one that focuses on interpretation rather than application. Bringing It All Together: Best Study Bible RecommendationsThe target audience is kids ages 8-12. Other than the simplified study notes, this Bible doesn’t include the basic study tools an adult would look for, such as cross-referencing and a concordance. If you use this as an adult it would be more of a colorful, easily accessible, reading Bible rather than a study Bible. Because I believe that the Holy Spirit is primarilyresponsible for helping us apply God’s word to our lives. He is the one who makes convicts us of sin and righteousness. He is the one who reveals Christ to us. He is the one who comforts us in our afflictions and encourages when we’re downtrodden. It’s also great when used for general reading because of its large size and the comprehensive amount of information. You can always find something new when you study the Word of God. Preferred Essentially Literal Translation + Interpretation Focused Study Bible + Contributions From Numerous Scholars = The Best Study Bible The Rainbow Study Bible is a very aesthetically pleasing bible. But it is not color-coded just to be pretty. The color-coding instead provides you the reader with an easier way to delve into the Bible and to easier make correlations between different scriptures at a glance. This study bible is a great resource for beginners as it is for preachers and teachers as well.

What follows is an in-depth guide to choosing a study Bible. First, I’ll lay out some general guidelines when it comes to choosing one, then make some specific recommendations about various study Bibles. The English Standard Version is one of the fastest growing translations, partially because it is a more recent word-for-word translation. The ESV Study Bible has detailed introductions to the different sections and books of the Bible, a substantial cross-referencing system, in-depth commentary, and numerous other study tools included. Personally, I believe the best study Bible will have study notes written by a variety of scholars. This allows you to get a variety of perspectives on a variety of texts. If all the notes are written by a single person, you’re only getting their interpretation of all the passages. This can get especially dicey if you’re getting into more difficult texts, like in the Book of Revelation. Before you decide on a good study Bible for you, it’s really important to determine the best translation of the Bible to use. Essentially literal study Bible translations are those that seek to examine the original Greek or Hebrew word, then translate that word into English as literally as possible. Here at Grace to You Europe we take our data protection responsibilities very seriously and, as you would expect, have undertaken a significant programme of work to ensure that we are ready for this important legislative change. There are certainly going to be elements of preference involved in making your choice. Maybe your church uses one particular translation. Maybe you grew up reading and memorizing the NASB. Maybe you just like the way a particular translation feels. Adherents of “dynamic equivalence” (and the more recent label “functional equivalence”) do not necessarily feel obliged to translate the actual words of the original. Instead, these translators often engage in commentary on the biblical text instead of translation of it. This is done by bypassing the words of the original and offering an interpretation of its “content meaning” as distinct from its “lexical meaning.”

The scripture and notes are both double-column. Notes are in a shaded area and a different font, so they are easy to distinguish. One tool that is notably missing is a cross-reference system for related verses. The four-color graphics used throughout definitely have a feminine flair, adding interest without distracting from the text. The ESV Study Bible has sold over 1 million copies to date and has won the EXPA Book of the Year Award. The authors designed this study bible to provide its readers with an easier way for them to understand the Bible in the deepest possible way. It is a very feature-rich study bible with a plethora of study notes and cross-references to help guide the reader to a deeper understanding of scripture to better apply it to their lives. Don’t neglect the “weightier matters” of Bible reading. God desires obedience and a heart that delights in him.

There are so many different types of study Bibles that it can be confusing trying to determine the best study Bible for you. Bottom line: If you want the best study Bible, I recommend getting an essentially literal translation. Generally speaking, study Bibles fall into one of two categories: Interpretation Centered Study Bibles

Overall, this is a big simplification of the two methods of translation, but I think you get the point. Personally, I believe this is an inferior and unhelpful method of translation because it has the potential to introduce interpretationinto the translation.

The Bible is God’s instruction manual for living. No matter where you’re at in your Christianity, studying God’s word will change you for the better. The bottom line is to start making the Bible a part of your everyday life. The KJV Study Bible from Holman is a great choice. It is complete with good notes, better than most other study bibles. The full-color images and maps are beautiful and the study Bible is quite a feature-rich one. It is the only full-color KJV study bible available and that alone puts it in a class of its own. But this bible study is much more than simply pretty to look at. It is designed with a feature to help the reader to be transformed and grow in their faith and knowledge of the Lord and is the aim of our lives here on earth. In other words, instead of simply translating the words as they were originally written, an attempt is made to interpret the meaning of the original words and then let that interpretation guide the translation.
