They serve as an indispensable tool in a professional studio setup and an exclusive asset for personal enjoyment, promising a unique blend of immersive sound and comfort. One thing I’ve always appreciated about Beyerdynamic headphones is that they tend to possess good spatial qualities, and that remains true with the DT 1770 Pro.

Brilliant highs and a warm bass give you a perfect sound profile unmatched by any other headphones of their kind. They're more versatile than similar open-back models like the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO because they isolate a bit more noise and leak less, but as closed-back headphones, they create a less immersive passive soundstage. The DT 1770 Pro include a 3m straight cable or a 5m coiled cable both terminated in a single-ended mini XLR connection. The Evolution Of A Studio LegendThese benchmark-setting closed-back studio headphones combine decades of expertise in headphone production with the latest Tesla driver technology. The figures overall are low, but usually, in the range above 100Hz the values are near zero, however, it’s not the case here. One last thing I would like to note for the highs is that I wish they had had a little better extension into the upper treble, as I felt like they weren’t quite as airy as on the DT 770 Pro, which in turn made the DT 1770 Pro feel a little more closed-in. DT 1770 Pro’s are quite far from being the most neutral-sounding closed-backs, but they sure sound fun and complement many genres. Headphones come with a nice set of accessories and spares – a semi-hard case for storage and transportation, two slightly different sets of ear pads and two mini-XLR cables, a 5 meter long coiled and a 3 meter straight one.

Unless you're deep within audiophile circles, and happy to drop a great deal of your hard-earned cash on the latest amplifier and DAC setup, it's not going to be a purchase you make lightly. Good instrument separation keeps the DT 1770 Pro from sounding congested, but it’s definitely an intimate soundstage. These over-ear headphones also provide uncompromising performance in live environments thanks to their outstanding output level.

Finally, the BeyerDynamic DT1770 Pro Headphones are an excellent choice for anyone who values high-quality audio, comfort, and versatility. Released in 2016, the DT 1770 Pro serves as the successor to Beyerdynamic’s classic and extremely popular DT 770 Pro. For the listening tests I used music from a wide variety of genres including Rock, Jazz, Classical, Acoustic, Hip-Hop, and latin.

Compared to the DT 770 Pro, clamp force on the DT 1770 Pro is a bit tighter, but again I didn’t find it to be an issue in any way, and it’s definitely not like the vicious clamp of HD 600-series headphones. My listening notes time and time again said, “bass line takes over the focus of the song, stealing energy from the midrange and treble. MAXIMUM COMFORTThe beyerdynamic DT 1770 PRO headphones bring experience, German engineering and cutting-edge technology totgether. Of course these aren’t portable headphones so bothering people near you isn’t a problem, but it’s good to know that if you plan on using them while talking online, then your audio won’t leak into the microphone. The DT 1770 Pro and the Talos 2 both have a fantastic amount of bass but the Talos 2 wins in texture and impact while the DT 1770 Pro wins in quantity, or at least perceived quality. The DT 1770 Pro are capable of producing similar sound quality, but I couldn’t get them EQd just right to match the DT 1990 Pro. The aluminium housing holds the drivers in place, ensuring minimal movement; the adjustable support bars, connecting the two ear cups to the upper headband, are sturdy and secure; the dual-layered memory foam padding lining the top of the leather headband is comfortable yet taut.

They are the number one choice for music producers, sound technicians, broadcast users and even us audio fans.Beyerdynamic felt it was time to update their masterpiece using the latest technologies and so they created the DT1770PRO, the first professional headphone with their already famous Tesla 2. The headband structure with the typical Beyerdynamic yokes of course still is the same but with the new headband and the new replaceable velour ear pads, the DT1770PRO has even become more comfortable. I tested the DT 1770 Pros thoroughly over the course of two months, alongside a plethora of other headphones from the likes of Oppo, Shure, Sennheiser and Audio-Technica. Beyerdynamic puts it this way: “Compared to the more basic DT770, the DT 1770 PRO features a more modern and classy design with discrete elegance.
