So, this color scheme is not difficult and doesn’t pretend for the Golden Demon. But it looks nice and lets you paint the entire army in no time at all.

I’m using Hexwraiths to showcase the process as I didn’t take pictures when I was working on the actual models in Soul Wars.Lady Olynder is the most powerful Nighthaunt special character, and one of Nagash’s most powerful generals. In life, Olynder was a schemer and liar. Manipulating her way to the royal court of her kingdom, she murdered her husband-to-be and claimed his empty throne. She wore a veil of feigned grief for the rest of her mortal life. Paint the Hexfires– Many of the models have extra “flame” bits. Clean those up with some white paint and then re-shade them with the new Hexwraith Flame. Most of the time, I will mix at a ratio of about 2 parts medium to 1 part paint. If I want a more subtle effect then I’ll simply add more medium. If you want a stronger glaze then use less medium. Dip your brush into the glaze to load it into the bristles. You don’t want too much because you don’t want pooling. To accomplish that you could paint the skin on the zombie some really light color, a very pallid look. You could then apply a thin glaze to give the skin to shift the skin tone a bit towards green, purple, etc.

I’m pretty happy with it and the best part is that ANYONE can do this. So let’s talk about how. First up – watch a pro do it:If you thin paint with water then you’ll find that the paint goes on streaky. That’s because the water breaks the binder in acrylic paint. No matter what models our enthusiasts collect, everyone needs paint and tools to prepare their models for gaming and display.

Unless you’re in a speed competition take your time. You just paid good money for these models – slowdown, dry fit the bits before you add glue and take your time. Follow the instructions for assembly and you’ll be done before you know it.

Nighthaunt processions

Then cover the ghostly part with Hexwraith Flame. Why not over the primer? Because of this paint looks very bright on the light color and there’s a big contrast with a dark cloak. When you apply it over the Nighthaunt Gloom, the transition looks smoother. I’ll use it as it is for Spirits and magic. And Nihilakh Oxide will work for Banshees. So after getting frustrated with this I finally decided to come here and ask for some advise. I've had a few units of spirit hosts and hexwraiths laying around not painted pretty much because the last time I tried painting them was when I just started like a year ago so ago so they turned out horribly. They've since been stripped and sat on a shelf and I've improved while working on 40k stuff. The great part of a glaze is that it’s a very translucent paint, meaning you can see the previous layer through it. So, you can make subtle changes to something. The beauty in doing that with a glaze is that I don’t have to repaint everything. There’s no need to base coat again, add layers, and highlights. I simply apply a bright red glaze over everything.
