I compared the Sennheiser HD569 with the Beyerdynamic DT770 pro and the Sennheiser won because it has the oval shaped earcups. That much was clear when I spent a few hours spellbound listening to a handful of Vladimir Horowitz CDs. Losing some detail, the sound never gets too bright or piercing, but if you live for the sound of strings, you may be a little disappointed.

As you can see from the specifications, the frequency range is fairly standard, but with a little more detail in the low end than you see on most headphones. I think this cable is suitable for the other HD5xx (HD598, HD559) series aswell because it has the same connector that goes in the headphone itself. While maybe not ideal for mixing/mastering, they are great for casual listening and for tracking or playing instruments such as electronic drums.
