One immediate thing I noticed and is something I’ve commented on with Garmin’s watches, is the charger. Garmin also reports that the Approach G12 is IPX7 water-rated. This means that it, “Withstands incidental exposure to water of up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.” In short, don’t take this device swimming but don’t fear a little drizzle, either. When it comes to specifications, the Garmin Approach G12 offers golfers a reliable and durable device. With long battery life, golfers can enjoy uninterrupted use on the course without worrying about the device dying mid-round. The durable construction ensures that the Garmin Approach G12 can withstand the rigors of the golfing environment, making it a reliable companion for golfers of all skill levels.

There are two features of the Garmin Approach G12 that set it apart from other handheld and clip-on golf GPS devices. The Green View feature of the Garmin Approach G12 is another valuable feature. It allows golfers to view the shape of the green from any direction, helping them analyze the terrain and plan their approach shots more effectively. Furthermore, golfers can adjust the pin location for greater accuracy, ensuring they have the most precise distance measurements possible. You can use it to manually input the exact location of the pin and to keep score. Like the G12, you can use the S12 to see the exact shape of each green you play. Pros:

At The Golf Shop Online, we are dedicated to offering you the most competitive prices. We continually compare our prices with those of our competitors to ensure you receive the best possible deal. In the rare event that you find a lower price elsewhere, we even provide a price promise* to further enhance your shopping experience. Smartphones only take five minutes to install the software before finding themselves on top of an icon displaying yards-away accuracy. Golf APP Every experiment needs a control so we put the Garmin Approach G12 up against the older but still relevant Approach G10.One nice feature was being able to set different pin locations to get more accurate distances. It’s a little time-consuming, but if a pin sheet is available taking a couple minutes to set the pins ahead of time will make your round even more frictionless on the course. The Garmin Approach G12 comes with the device, a proprietary charging cable, and a user manual. As someone who’s slightly old school, I appreciate the inclusion of a proper paper manual. It has many of the same golf features like hazard, layup and dogleg distancing, a digital scorecard and green view with manual pin positioning. There are a couple of pretty big differences, though. For one thing the S12 is not tournament legal. Its simple design makes it easy to use and even easier to read, so you can spend less time fiddling with the device and more time enjoying your game. Compact and Lightweight The Garmin Approach G12 is a GPS range finder that is used just for the game of golf. There are more expensive Garmin GPS sports watches that support all of these same golf functions, along with other sports and activities.

Golf GPS devices come in many shapes and varieties. No matter which you prefer though, the goal should be the same: improve your game and shave strokes off your score. To do that, you may not need all the bells and whistles of more expensive watches or GPS devices that double up as launch monitors.

Yes, the Garmin Approach G12 is waterproof, providing golfers with peace of mind in inclement weather conditions. It gave accurate distances to the green that were right in line with what I got from my rangefinder. It’s not quite as feature heavy as the larger and more expensive Garmin G80– but it’s just as accurate.

The Garmin Approach G12 is a nice accessory that is affordable and automatically captures your gameplay. It is very light and small so it doesn't get in the way of your game at all, but still provides some key information as you walk the course. You can also have the display flipped upside down so that you can keep the G12 mounted on your belt and view the numbers without removing it. This is a thoughtful small touch that helps you stay focused on the game. As you can see, the Approach G12 is tiny. It’s barely 2″ tall and less than 1/2″ wide, even with the belt clip. There are four buttons around the edge, and each one’s function is clearly labeled. The size is a mixed bag. It’s barely noticeable on your hip, which is great. The downside is that those with larger hands may find the buttons tough to operate. The buttons are solid and have a good, clear press, but getting your fingers situated on the device can be a challenge. The G12 can last up to 30 hours in golf GPS mode as opposed to the estimated 15 hour lifespan of the G10 battery. Take the Garmin Approach G12 for example. It’s a simple, affordable, reliable GPS device that has what you really need to play better rounds. So in today’s review, we wanted to shed some light on this oft overlooked golf GPS device from Garmin.
