But, Seiko kept things minimal and classy and added just the right amount of bling without going overboard.

I limited my choices down to the SNKL23 and SNKL45 as an everyday/ dress watch, but I can't decide on which I like more. If you would like to change your settings or withdraw consent at any time, the link to do so is in our privacy policy accessible from our home page. When you get a Seiko, you know you’re getting a watch with tough-as-nails movement and ironclad construction throughout.

As you can imagine, a company that was founded in 1881 is going to have a few vintage watch options to pull from. Sign up to our newsletter to the first to know when new products and brands arrive, access exclusive deals you won’t find anywhere else, stay up to date with WatchGecko’s online magazine and more! Just that little details shifts it a bit too sport and less dress enough that I don't think it works. We also have a lot more reviews of watches planned for the rest of the year, so keep your eyes open for lot more of those in the coming weeks. Traditionally, this was so dive watches could have larger hour markers, and be more legible when divers used them underwater. But, if you are lucky enough to be able to afford a 5, you can rest assured it’s an investment that will last you for years to come. At 37mm, and with a lug-to-lug of just under 15mm, the watch feels compact on the wrist, and with the included comfortable canvas strap, almost feels like you’re not wearing a watch at all. Although not the most accurate, and not the most decorated, these cut corners help keep costs down in the movement, and in the watch. One of the things I like most about the solar-powered SSC700 is its subtler, gentler take on the gold-finished watch. When you consider that this is an entry-level watch with pretty attractive looks, solid stats, a respectable size and is made from a well known brand, it's very hard to fault.

It’s the kind of dive watch that doesn’t smack you in the face with its dive watch-ness, making it yet another wear-anywhere option. Taking a look at this particular model, the SRPE53 is part of the “DressKX” lineup, a nickname given as it’s a dressier version of the SKX one of Seiko’s most popular dive watches of all time. The SRPE61 takes the “DressKX” style of using dive watch elements on the dial but classes it up with a fixed bezel, and a more elegant, slightly dressier appearance. Having a watch case with so many precisely machined edges that vary in their finish, from brushed to polish, is rare in most watches, let alone watches this affordable. If blue isn’t your thing, there are two other variations, a black and grey SSK001, and the bright orange SSK005.They are still in production, however, Seiko has no longer released any new 37mm original Seiko ‘5’ badge models. If you didn’t think this watch punched above its weight beforehand, then this combo is sure to change your mind. They have a hardlex crystal which isn’t as scratch resistant as sapphire, their included bracelets and straps are mediocre and sometimes downright uncomfortable, and the included 7S26 is reliable, albeit basic, and can be inaccurate. The hurdles crystal is slightly domed, adding some visual distortion when looking at the watch from different angles.

Pick up the SNKL41 if you want a clean, minimalist white dial watch that can pair well with quite literally any outfit or watch strap. Seiko is a very popular choice for people’s first watches and although it wasn’t my first watch ( that spot is reserved for a watch I had when I was about 7), the Seiko SARB033 was my first mechanical watch. The SRPD series has been modernized from the SKX of the ’90s, with a slightly more refined appearance, and improved 4R36 caliber movement. Rather than holding up your collection, this should be considered a background player in your watch wardrobe.

While many of us might not need such an apparatus on our watch, one that our phones can likely do better for us non-divers, I like using it to time how much time is left for food in the oven, or how much time I have left in a parking meter. The watch has 100 meters of water resistance and a big bulky crown that is easy to grab and wind, or change the time. With Black Friday drawing near, the anticipation of scoring great deals from your favourite brands is growing. With a dizzying number of collections and models to choose from, the best Seiko watches feature outstanding movements, unrivaled affordability, and versatility in terms of where you can wear them.
