Janet Ahlberg (21 October 1944 – 13 November 1994), née Janet Hall, and Allan Ahlberg (born 5 June 1938) were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries.

Bought this for my four year old as I thought he was old enough to appreciate it now, and he loves it!

I had this book growing up and bought it for my friend's daughter and these books are one of the best kept secrets. It's so beautifully written with rhymes and little envelopes for you to explore with your child, hopefully it withstands my toddler as It's definitely a book I would like to keep and pass through generations.

It takes quite a while to read the book with a child, so much is left for you to discuss together, to comment on, to remember and love. He has published over 100 children's books and, with his late wife Janet, created such award winning picture books as EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY POSTMAN - both winners of the Kate Greenaway Medal. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Janet Ahlberg won two Kate Greenaway Medals for illustrating their books and the 1978 winner Each Peach Pear Plum was named one of the top ten winning works for the 50th anniversary of the Medal (1955–2005). Innovative, funny and moving, his work encompasses storybooks, picture books, easy readers, joke books and novels as well as poems. It is accepted by you that Daunt Books has no control over additional charges in relation to customs clearance. Preschoolers will enjoy the rhyming text and familiar characters and older children can start to read the story and letters themselves. In the first book of this now classic series, we are taken down the dark, dark street to the dark, dark house and into the dark, dark cellar in which the skeletons live.

We are experiencing delays with deliveries to many countries, but in most cases local services have now resumed. Little ones will love opening the envelopes to read the post in this magical story, full of festive, fairy tale surprises! Our grownup children remember it from their childhood and a couple of years ago we got a new copy for our grandchild.A special edition of this classic picture book to celebrate its 30th anniversary – with festive foil on the cover! To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Janet sadly died in 1994, but Allan has gone on to work with other illustrators and is still producing lots of new books.
