BTS Edition Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G and Buds+". Samsung Electronics America . Retrieved 15 July 2020. Samsung is still offering a default resolution of Full HD+ (2220 x 1080), which looks more than sharp enough for most tasks, and saves battery; you’ll need to head into the settings to switch to the higher resolution. That’s not especially remarkable, but it seems that battery life is more or less keeping pace with innovation: you can eke out a bit more life by reducing the display resolution or dropping the refresh rate down to 60Hz; conversely, you can max-out the screen tech that’s on offer, but battery life will suffer accordingly. The S20 range also breaks new ground with the introduction of 8K video recording, and anti-roll correction (up to 60 degrees) as part of Samsung’s Super Steady stabilization feature. The arrival of the Galaxy S20 in shops ushers in the beginning of smartphone launch season, and with the Novel Coronavirus outbreak looming large across the industry, by sheer coincidence Samsung may have won big by being one of the first out of the gate.

User Available Memory: User memory is less than the total memory due to storage of the operating system and software used to operate the device features. Actual user memory will vary depending on the operator and may change after software upgrades are performed. It is the first smartphone lineup to receive USB fast-charger certification from the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF). [16] [17] As before, the Galaxy S20 uses one of Samsung’s own Dynamic AMOLED panels, which has a native resolution of 3,200 x 1,400 (Quad HD+) but can be dipped down to FHD+ or HD+ in the phone’s display settings if you want to squeeze out a bit more battery life. Yes, the S20 Plus has gotten a price bump over the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, presumably due to the added 5G compatibility. It pushes the phone to new heights of flagship prices, which is frustrating – especially given the limited availability of the cheaper 4G model, and notably the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus actually has a lower launch price. Byford, Sam (February 26, 2020). "Samsung pledges to improve Galaxy S20 camera after reviewers see issues". The Verge. While that’s a faster refresh rate than the 90Hz on the Google Pixel 4, OnePlus 7T Pro or Razer Phone 2, you likely won’t see a difference unless you put those phones side by side with the S20 Plus while it’s bumped up to 120Hz. And yes, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 also offers 120Hz, making Samsung’s flagship line the first non-gaming phones to get the cutting-edge screen tech. video, on the other hand, continues to wow (and has less focus hunting than on the Ultra). The goal of recording 8K video isn't really to output 8K; it's to have the freedom to pan and zoom after the fact when you're outputting to 4K or 1080p. Right now, the Galaxy S20s are the only phones in the US able to capture 8K video. There will be more phones this year that will support the full range of 5G technologies. I have high hopes for the OnePlus 8, the upcoming Motorola flagship, and of course the iPhone 12.

Ismail, Adam (23 September 2020). "Samsung Galaxy S20 FE unveiled: Price, release date, specs and colors". Tom's Guide . Retrieved 23 September 2020.While 8K recording is limited to 24fps, it has one big benefit: you’re able to crop and edit videos without sacrificing quality if you’re exporting to 4K or 1080p. The Galaxy S20’s 12MP ultra-wide camera has changed the least compared to the S10 – the f/2.2 aperture is the same, but it has a smaller sensor with larger pixels (1.4 microns over last year’s 1 micron). That makes your ultra-wide photos a touch better, even if the S10 had a 16MP ultra-wide camera.

a b "Samsung Introduces Next Generation of Tactical Mobility with the Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition". Samsung US Newsroom. Samsung. 2020-05-20. Archived from the original on 2020-07-02 . Retrieved 2020-08-28. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus’ 6.7-inch AMOLED display is sharp and vibrant, with WQHD+ resolution (3200 x 1440). The display is a shade taller than the S10 Plus’ QHD+ (3040 x 1440) screen, which is likely due to it having less bezel at the top and bottom. But you likely won’t notice a difference given how similar they are – at least until you get to the refresh rate. That’s a debate to be held for another time, and I’m pretty impressed with all of the new stuff Samsung has brought to the table this year. These new phones feel like much more of an upgrade than ever before and since the Galaxy S20 is the cheapest of the bunch, it earns my recommendation more so than the rest.

5G, a 120Hz display and more debut on the Galaxy S20

The small Galaxy S20, on AT&T and T-Mobile/Sprint, gives up high-band millimeter-wave, which has very little coverage right now but delivers awesome speed and will expand over the next three years. (Verizon plans to have a mmWave version of the small phone later in Q2.) New here is Single Take mode, which cycles through all three rear cameras over the course of 10 seconds to capture a variety of photos and videos. It answers the ‘Should I take photos or a video?’ dilemma with ‘Why not take both?’
