Description

Bridge, funnel and other parts concentrated in the center of the ship are faithfully replicated, giving the model a highly realistic feel. With this level of engineering, accuracy, and detail, this is literally Tamiya's new flagship model. This 1/350 scale model depicts the Yukikaze as she appeared on that fateful mission in April 1945, complete with radar equipment and increased anti-aircraft armament. These photo-etched parts depict degaussing cables which were built and used by the Japanese Navy to protect their ships from magnetic torpedoes.

Other armaments including triple 60-caliber 15.5cm guns, twin 40-caliber 12.7cm guns, 25mm cannon mounts and more are recreated in detail. The Yukikaze formed part of the escort force for the Yamato's final mission and returned with many of her survivors. Based on the latest historical research, this famous WWII battleship has been reproduced down to the finest detail in this 752mm long 1/350 scale model kit. With many revolutionary features incorporated into her design, the Yamato was completed in December 1941, and met her final fate at the hands of American Navy carrier aircraft in the South China Sea while on a one-way mission to Okinawa Plastic Sprue Cutter - for cutting & snipping sprues and parts on plastic kits, eg. planes, cars, boats, military models and figures, etc. Even parts which had not been seen before in model form, such as the turret barbettes, have been reproduced as Tamiya challenges conventional ship model standards.

Plastic Magic 10 sec cement is a thin liquid plastic cement with a 10-15 sec adjustment time & non-clog action. as she appeared on her final mission to Okinawa and may be assembled for either full-hull or waterline display. since she took part in many notable actions, including Midway and Leyte Gulf, and always returned unscathed.

At 46 centimetres, her artillery was the largest calibre for breech-loading guns ever used on ships.

Yamato was laid down in 1937 and commissioned into the IJN fleet in December 1941, just in time to participate in the Pacific War, although she spent much of her early career in the Japanese home waters. She served as the flagship of the Japanese Combined Fleet under Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. The Yamato's main armament consisted of nine 46 cm (18.1 in) guns, the largest caliber of naval artillery ever fitted to a warship. However, despite her impressive firepower and armor, she was relatively inactive during the war. The Japanese used her mainly as a deterrent force, and she was not committed to an operational campaign until the Battle of Leyte Gulf in October 1944, where her aircraft were used in the defense of the Philippines. The Yamato was a Japanese battleship in World War II. It was the largest and most heavily armed battleship ever built. Between 1937 and 1941, it was built under the strictest secrecy at the naval shipyard in Kure (Hiroshima) and commissioned on 16 December 1941. Features a stand which can be easily attached by screws to separately-sold 1/350 scale display case. The set includes a total of 24 figures for each of the 6 different positions such as saluting, pointing to a direction, The Yamato was a battleship built by the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during World War II, and it was the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleship ever constructed. Yamato and her sister ship, Musashi, were the pinnacles of the battleship technology. This model accurately depicts the Yamato with increased anti-aircraft armament as she appeared on her final mission to Okinawa and may be assembled for either full-hull or waterline display.
