This is an enjoyable story with the levels of chaos that young readers revel in. It is reminiscent of The Tiger Who Came to Tea– a comparison made by several readers. I found the ending interesting and we pondered on why the boy and his dad would want the unicorn to return when he’s eaten all the food and left such a mess! It is good to see a boy featuring in a unicorn story. I know a particular young man in the class was particularly pleased to be able to see himself in this story as unicorn characters are often surrounded by girls. The unicorn is a flamboyant, larger-than-life character who certainly livens up a dreary day!
