The Spatz are not totally waterproof but if water does breach them you will stand a good chance of keeping your feet warm. The best cycling overshoes will help keep the winter freeze at bay and keep your feet warm and dry, not to mention protect your best cycling shoes from being ruined by road spray and muck. Whether you’re battling Raynaud’s disease or trying to stay warm in the hunting blind, this is a solid option. The soft fleece lining and three heat settings on this foot warmer make it an incredibly cosy way to treat your feet during the winter months. Like much of Altura's kit, its overshoes have plenty of reflectives, which wrap around the outside and the rear of the overshoes to help up your visibilty.

If new shoes and pedals aren't an option, you could give a standard overshoe a whirl, but you'll need to pick a size or so bigger to take account for the larger sole on a trainer, as well as a more robust underneath. What's more, if the mercury rises and the thermal layers aren't a necessity, the feet do not overheat.they are definitely an investment, but they’re so versatile you’ll get a lot of use out of them in the cold weather. I have spent a lot of money over the years, on some good quality gloves; some fleece lined but none has solved my problems.

It's sort of like a hot water bottle, if hot water bottles were super plush, enveloped your feet, and heated up by getting plugged in. The toe is reinforced for durability, they’re water and windproof, and wipe clean easily, but they’re less pocketable than some and don’t add warmth. The Serta Foot Warmer envelopes up to four chilly feet in a plush, cozy cocoon of warmth, so it's a great option for anyone who wants to share the warmth. Tape a full circle, including the sole since duct tape sticks to itself strongly and won't come off throughout a long, rainy walk. They use tourmaline and amethyst-infused foot pads to release far infrared rays and negative ions that the company claims will evenly distribute heat around the foot. Like the rest of the overshoes in the test, I used the overshoes on a couple of nights when it was around -3C - maybe a little bit colder with the windchill - and they did a really good job of keeping me warm. With better run time, heat retention, settings, and reusability, hand warmers have evolved from simple single-use pocket warmers to rechargeable electric warmth machines. Some users do say this isn’t long enough though, and it can get annoying having to reach down and turn it back on again to stay warm.

She lives just outside the Peak District National Park near Manchester UK with her partner, daughter and a small but beautifully formed bike collection.Because these warmers generate heat via combustion, they never need to be charged and work well even in very cold temps. I did notice some light scuffing to the underside front panel of the overshoe on my clipping-in foot after just a few rides so watch out for this when clipping in and out or stopping, as the section is not reinforced, I fear it would wear through relatively quickly if you were hard on it. The winter, especially in the northern hemisphere, can often throw some challenging weather and riding conditions at us, so keeping extremities warm in freezing and wet conditions can be hard at times. If you're riding a bit less outdoors and maybe just doing winter race series or fast club rides, a thinner option such as the Velotoze will probably cover it.
