When you buy the Phantom, you get access to Bushnell’s golf app. It’s one of my favorites. I really like the arcs at 100, 150, 200, and 250 yards, and you can tap the map to get the exact distance to any given point on the hole. Perhaps the best feature is the flyover view of the hole. This is particularly valuable when you’re playing a hole for the first time. While the app itself is pleasant to use, it doesn't offer enough extra information to make it worth having your phone out all round alongside the Phantom 2. All the main information you need is already on the device itself - dynamic yardages, pin placement and score etc. - so what's the need for the app? The other new feature is green view. You can move the pin among several pre-selected locations to get a better idea of the yardage to the flag. This is a strong feature, but be careful using it if you don’t have a pin sheet or decent course knowledge. If you aren’t sure where the flag is, make the safe play to the center yardage.

Having the distances to hazards such as bunkers was extremely useful, especially since lots of new bunkers have been added to my course over winter. Wet cloth in cleaning solution; avoid excessive amounts of solution. Cleaning solution should not be dripping from cloth. I found the Phantom GPS so easy to use. It’s really simple button design means it is easy to navigate around and use the different features. Once your device is updated, make sure your device is fully charged. A couple of tips about charging or if your Phantom stops responding. or decline. Slope Technology can also be simply disabled which makes the Phantom 2 Slope legal for tournament play.

Personally I probably wouldn’t clip this on my belt as I still feel the device can easily detach from the clip if you catch it against something. However, it worked great when clipping to the side of my golf bag and really sped up my play when I didn’t have to delve into my bag to find out a yardage. The hazard display on the Phantom 2 is good. It lists 100, 150, and 200 yard lay up distances with bunkers and water inserted where appropriate. It can also provide yardages to the hazard and to clear it. The biggest positive is that it lists all hazards on one screen. However, I prefer the Garmin G12 and Shot Scope H4 for the way they clearly show which hazard is being described. Tour V5 or V5 Shift: Press the button on the side marked Y/M. Press the top portion Y for yards or the bottom portion M for meters. The Tour V5 will return to the last unit of measure setting used each time the unit is turned on. Using the Phantom 2 is fairly simple. There are four buttons: three on the left, one on the right. The left buttons scroll up, down, and select while the right button brings up menus. The buttons are not labeled in any way, but I found them reasonably intuitive.
