Description

Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud means the rank that is Mahmud. It is for the one that is praised. Allah will lift him up to the Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud. The Angels and humanity will praise him. Every single being in existence will praise the Prophet (ﷺ). Al-Maqam Al-Mahmud is for Muhammad and it is for Ahmad. Both of them mean the one who is ultimately praised. When we read Ibn Hisham, we read something written around 100 years after the Prophet passed away, before any book of Hadith was written (Imam Bukhari died in 256 AH, and Imam Muslim died 261AH). So the material on Seerah we have was written within 100 years after the death of the Prophet (ﷺ) since we have the majority of Ibn Ishaq's works preserved through Ibn Hisham.

This app features the award-winning book on the Biography of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ Ar-Raheequl Makhtum or Sealed Nectar by Sheikh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarkpuri. Before I further delve into the importance of learning Seerah, we need to first know what does the term ‘Seerah’ mean. It generally means biography. So, Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) or al-Seerah al-Nabawiyyah means biography (life) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). So the first person to be resurrected and the first person to understand will be our Prophet (ﷺ). So he is saying, I am al-Hashir, the one that is signaling the Hashr. By his coming, He is signaling the coming of the day of Judgment, and by his resurrection on the Day of Judgment, he will be the one after whom everybody else will be resurrected. The Ummah is undergoing an Iman crisis right now. We need to revive the glory of our Ummah by educating ourselves and our family and friends about the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and applying the lessons learnt in our lives. Abu Hurairah (RA) and Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah’s) mercy envelops them, Sakinah (tranquillity) descends upon them and Allah makes a mention of them before those (angles) who are near Him.” [Sahih Muslim] 5. Knowing and Following the Best Human Being Muḥammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their sign is in their faces from the effect of prostration [i.e., prayer]. That is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is as a plant which produces its offshoots and strengthens them so they grow firm and stand upon their stalks, delighting the sowers - so that He [i.e., Allah] may enrage by them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds among them forgiveness and a great reward." One can profess love for someone, but s/he will never be practical about it. Similarly, Muslims cannot develop real love until they are acquainted with Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) via his Sirah. Now, let’s talk about some important reasons and benefits of studying the Seerah of Rasulullah ﷺ. 1. Knowing the History of Islam

Be lenient to the people in their affairs and do not be rigid; give hope to them and do not cause break up among them…Islam is a balanced religion, so be moderate in acting on its commandments”. In fact, the weakness of our love for the Prophet (PBUH) is a result of our ignorance about his Seerah. If we make a habit of reading about his life and teachings, our hearts will be filled with his love. We come to the Seerah to learn about Islam and our Last Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH). To Better Understand the Quran

The Statements of the 'Ulema on Raising Children

We can learn a lot from the Prophet’s life, and apply those lessons in our own lives. For example, he would introduce himself first whenever he met new people; he used to say Salam, and greet them very politely. Another lesson that we can learn from the Seerah is that of patience. He (PBUH) showed us that the best way to lead one’s life was to strike a balance between Deen and Dunya. He did not neglect Dunya — he took care of his family and loved them immensely, he would go to the market to earn a living, etc.
