Yes, she wanted to be a mother desperately, and I could understand this, but not at any cost, not with such a character. This is a companion book to Sorry, Not Sorry (which I wasn't a huge fan of) but you don't need to read that to read this and I really enjoyed No, We Can't Be Friends. I especially liked the relationship Sloane had with all her co-workers, caring and looking after them while she was going through a hard time herself. Fast forward a several months, and we witness Sloane begin to see the cracks in her marriage and the subsequent efforts she puts in attempting to save it.

Without getting into it very much, Ranald shows a great case of gaslighting and I wish had spelled things out in those terms so that Sloane could have had a conversation with herself about that.
