Description

No Mercy is a standalone novel by Martina Cole. Diana Davis finds herself at the helm of the family enterprise after her husband’s passing, a man remembered as an infamous bank robber. Stepping into a realm dominated by men, she commands respect and instills fear—no one dares to underestimate her. a b Shepherd, Robert. "The Broadcast interview: Martina Cole, crime author". www.broadcastnow.co.uk. Media Business Insight . Retrieved 5 November 2015. Almost every woman in this book is treated awfully, and our “heroes” consist of a psychopathic cradle-snatcher, a domestic abuser, and a womaniser who treats attachment as a fatal flaw. All these heroes are incredibly hypocritical towards their partners and the people around them, and never get called out for it. Just a sixth of the way through the book and bang. A twist, a surprise that hits you harder than a cosh over the head from an Essex wideboy. The plot zips along at a frenetic rate all with the typical Cole traits of torture and ultra-violence. That’s why we love her so. That’s not the last surprise either. This time it hits you like a bullet train where you are pinned to front and taken around the East London suburbs and Essex countryside. It’s time for revenge. Get Even. Her sole son, Angus, bears an innate affinity for villainy, yet he craves more than just heritage; he yearns for his mother’s trust and recognition. To secure a place within the family business, he must first demonstrate his competence and resourcefulness, hurdling obstacles to earn Diana’s endorsement.

Cole filmed an investigative documentary, Martina Cole Girl Gangs: Los Angeles for Sky1 in 2009. This focused on the role of girls in these gangs, which have been responsible for crimes ranging from drug dealing and car theft to robbery and murder. [10] okay, now let’s talk about the topics she tries to raise in her story. you can raise sensitive topics and make a moral about it at the end, make the reader understand that the author doesn’t agree with this hate and denounce it in this book. Martina Cole doesn’t feel like she needs to do that and why? these sensitive topics are lived by real people, these events are something that can happen to anyone. the way she wrote this book makes it look like 1. she’s homophobic and 2. she thinks women are there please men. obviously, this is just what i felt while reading the book, i don’t make any assumptions about her point of view on these topics. Martina Cole - Sky Arts: The Book Show". Archived from the original on 17 May 2011 . Retrieved 21 October 2011. Her early books were fantastic, gritty and thrilling. Always waiting for October for her new release. This might also be because I think that Declan, one of the characters that seems to be Michael's right hand man, is behind the revenge. And I think Michael's comeuppance is still waiting for him. But I think I might be reading far too much into it. No other reader has made a similar suggestion from what I can see.a b c d e Cadwalladr, Carole (31 May 2009). " 'The Booker prize money wouldn't even keep me in cigarettes' ". The Observer . Retrieved 23 June 2018. I've seen a few complaints on foul language, but if you don't like that in a book, then these sort of books should not be what you are reading.

I went off reading MC, But again found myself buying it after telling myself for the first few weeks I wasn't going to bother. If you are looking for a read that doesn’t tax the brain, with a half decent plot line you may enjoy Get Even, but personally I think there are much better authors out there in this genre, Kimberley Chambers is one who springs to mind. Three of Cole's novels have been adapted for the stage by the Theatre Royal, Stratford East, London: Two Women in 2010; The Graft in 2011, and Cole's first novel, Dangerous Lady in 2012. [11] Other interests [ edit ]The actual story and characters are mediocre in my opinion. I didn't connect with any of them. I had no sympathy for them and seeing Michael escape at the end, starting a new life with his new girlfriend and baby didn't gall me in a way that I think might have been intended.

But Lenny is also keeping a secret that could destroy his family and his status and that secret must never come out. Sharon Conway spent most of her life within the world of organised crime with two men, both of whom had a huge secret that they couldn't share with anyone, especially anyone in their community; this book, told from multiple points of view is the story of her life and her only two relationships with prominent men in the UK crime world.Sharon Conway and Lenny Scott are childhood sweethearts. Everyone says they are too young, but nothing can keep them apart. Lenny Scott is a handsome man, big strong and an up and coming face in the underworld. Sharon is everything Lenny could ever want, after meeting at school they are inseparable and when Sharon finds out she is having a baby, they can bring their plans forward to be a real family. Sharon does not question Lenny's business dealings and it is not long before his reputation as a hard man destined for the top means they are living the good life with their sons.
