Description

There is a set of retractable rubber foot attached to the bottom housing and the rubber feet are on four corners of the keyboard. 2.4G dongle is kept in a groove/cut-out on the bottom housing. The on/off switch is located at the right side of the bottom housing to turn on/off the keyboard when using the keyboard wirelessly. Hold down the FN+1 key for 3 seconds. The keyboard enters the pairing state, and the digit 1 indicator blinks at short intervals. FN+M (hold down for 2 seconds, and blink for 2 to enter, and blink for 1 to exit) = Enter MAC mode (switch Alt and Win, right Alt to win, right CTRL to Alt)

I must say I am not entirely convinced by this keyboard’s included accessories. The rubberized cable is pretty drab, although it does match the color of the keyboard. A sleeved cable would have been a lot nicer. Keydous did throw in a cable tie to help you with things, and there’s also a keycap puller and a switch puller. Yes, the Keydous NJ80 does support hotswappable switches. Appearance The knob cannot be configured for different functions, the default works as a volume wheel, with the press as a mute function. The steps on the volume wheel are subtle but noticeable. The knob is a very welcome feature that I’d love to see on more boards, Keydous’ implementation is as good as any other board, they’ve even included an option rounder knob in case you don’t like the default option. Use the FN key in combination with other keys to switch between different modes, change the color, and adjust the brightness and speed.Keydous has both Windows and macOS compatibility built into the NJ80. To switch to Mac mode, press and hold Fn+M for 2 seconds. If the lighting blinks twice, you’ve entered Mac mode, it blinks once when you exit. Warranty and Reliability

On the software side, the NJ80 uses Keydous’ proprietary software for all customization features. You are able to remap the main key layer along with one extra layer, however, your options on remapping are pretty limited; plus, there are no media keys. Moreover, you can record macros—which is always nice to see. Then again, if you want to go for a completely different switch type, it’s entirely possible as the NJ80 is fully hot-swappable! You can fit any 2-pin switch you want, so the customization potential of this keyboard is very good. Stabilizers Keydous claims the NJ80’s 4800mAh battery offers up to 28 hours of battery life with RGB on, and up to 90 hours with the RGB lighting off. In my testing, I didn’t find any reason to refute Keydous’ claims, as I never had the NJ80 die on me when I was using it. If you want to factory reset the NJ80, you can do so by pressing and holding Esc, Left Ctrl, F12, and the right arrow key for 3 seconds. Mac Compatibility

A ‘sleeper car’ blends into traffic but hides a roaring engine under the hood. The NJ80 might be called a sleeper keyboard.

The Hot swappable PCB allows to swap the switches easily with a switch puller without soldering. Enjoy the charm of different switches and find your desired typing sound and feel. Supporting most of the 3 or 5 pins switch types in the market. Keydous offers the NJ80 in wired, wireless Bluetooth, and wireless with the included 2.4Ghz dongle. The latency in Bluetooth is excellent as the NJ80 uses the superior Bluetooth 5.0 standard. You can easily get away doing regular typing tasks on Bluetooth, although I suggest switching to either wired or using the 2.4Ghz dongle if you want to game. There’s even a small slot on the underside of the keyboard to store the 2.4Ghz dongle, which is super convenient. Of course, hardened enthusiasts will probably not be interested in the Keydous NJ80, with there being no options for other mounting methods other than the rather basic tray mount out of the box. Not to mention that there’s no QMK/VIA support, which limits your customizability to what Keydous offers in the very limited software. However if you are upgrading from a run-of-the-mill mechanical keyboard, the Keydous NJ80 is definitely an excellent option. ConclusionThe Gateron Pro Milky Yellows, combined with the excellent stabilizers, make the overall typing experience incredibly smooth. Now NJ80 has been upgraded to AP500 version with new features of Bluetooth,2.4Ghz and wired programmability and customizability of the dynamic lighting effects in the driver. The new driver with new UI interface allows to customize your desired layout more easily and efficiently.FN key can be reassigned to any key for using the FN shortcuts to your preference. I wasn’t sure how I would like the Gateron Pro Milkey Yellow switches at first because they seemed to have a lot more resistance than the ones I am used to. In use, they are smooth as butter. However, when writing long articles, I have a bit of finger fatigue from needing to press a bit harder than I normally do. However, these switches have quite a lot of springiness to them, making them feel good to use and increasing my typing speed a little bit. They are also incredibly quiet, which is an absolute requirement for me. Use the FN key in combination with other keys to switch between Bluetooth, 2.4g, and wired mode, adjust volume, mute, and perform other functions. The first thing I did was to reassign the Del key as a PrtSc key, so I am a happy camper. For the record, the default hotkey for PrtScr is Fn+P. So there technically is a PrtScr button on the Keydous NJ80. You can also assign shortcuts and macros to key combos involving the modifiers, and the macro recording portion actually works pretty well. However the key assignment could probably be better if you can assign it to have a secondary function when pressed along with a modifier key.
