Instead of Toby, Salty and Harvey come to help Murdoch when he stops due to the sheep. Also, Murdoch's fire goes out and he has no more steam.

In "Thumper", Thumper is spoken to about the boulder and says sorry to Rusty. This is his only line in the book. Thoughtout the book, Bill and Ben's running boards have a dark yellow basecoat as opposed to white. This book is based on the seventh series episode, Gordon and Spencer and the eighth series episode, Edward the Great. In "Thomas' Welcome Present", Victor and Kevin are on flatbeds and Spencer, Diesel, Rosie and Charlie are joining the party.Even though the 2015 version is called Edward Takes the Lead, Gordon is shown on the front cover instead.

A deleted scene of Donald and Douglas from "Edward the Great" is used as the Scottish Twins are mentioned and shown in one of the illustrations.
