but she's going to go through a whole lot of mess (some of it funny, some of it not funny at all) to get to that point. Therefore, it is created by young people, for young people, in direct response to subjects which they feel that they and their peers will benefit from. Parents have reacted with fury to a taxpayer-funded national library scheme for teenagers as young as 13 that promotes puberty blockers and transgender surgery.

A booklist has been produced by the Reading Agency, a charity, for public libraries, GPs and school nurses across the UK to address an estimated one in eight young people in every classroom with a diagnosable mental health condition.

I really enjoyed this memoir of growing up trans and closeted in the small English town of St Helens in the early 2000s. I really liked the asides from present day Lewis, and I found the progress of acceptance from his family and friends to be quite similar to my own. As a result it’s also an important social record of that era as Lois’s transition to Lewis is fraught with overly officious obstacles and prejudice. Hell is not without a definite endearing humour, as bleak as the catalysts for that comedy often are. He uses a black-framed coding to pages where he interacts with either Lois or other members of the cast (parents and friends).

The million copy bestseller, A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, is an immensely powerful and heartbreaking novel of brotherly love and. The disturbing elements of political corruption and loss of human rights are lightened by moving depictions of sweet, funny moments between friends as well as deft political maneuvering by Kim herself when she was eventually questioned by authorities. Hancox’s story feels all the more grounded for its use of regional dialect, and its recognisable comic-of-age motifs that are universal despite the specificity of its subject matter. Kirja avaa hyvin Lewisin pohdintoja ja hämmennystä, mutta toisaalta antaa äänen myös hänen ympärillään olleille läheisille.this was a really accessible story of someone coming to terms with their identity and I can imagine it being really useful for younger people who are going through this themselves! The kinetic manhwa drawing style skillfully captures the personal and political history of this eye-opening memoir. A good companion to Gender Queer, The Times I Knew I Was Gay, How To Be Ace, The Bride Was a Boy, and Fun Home (especially TTIKIWG and HTBA since they all take place in the UK) as part of the "queer graphic memoirs" canon. The rendering of the dialect felt kind of embarrassing to me and I wasn't crazy about the art, but it was still worth the read. I found out about this graphic novel approximately 2 hours ago and decided I needed to read it so I downloaded the kindle app and bought it.

It promotes the idea that if girls are uncomfortable with their bodies (which is quite normal) then that means that they are trans and should change their gender. We are heartbroken to think of teenage girls, whether lesbian or straight, having self-harm and body hatred promoted to them in the name of inclusion,” she added.
