Infact, because this film (and it’s Kodak counterpart, Color Plus) is less refined, and has a look not dissimilar to what the consumer was used to in the 1980’s and 90’s, this is also part of the appeal – in a world of razor sharp digital perfection, images from a film like this are, for many, the perfect antidote!

As I continue to shoot film and build up experience, I’m finding the more freely I shoot, the more likely it is I’ll have something in the results that I really like. George has a lot of experience shooting actual Fujicolor C200 film, and he experimented using X RAW Studio until he got the recipe right. When shooting in nature on a sunny day I sometimes prefer this film over more expensive options because I know that the foliage will pop. I could leave the article there, but stopping now wouldn’t explain exactly why it felt so important to shoot Fuji C200. Content contributor – become a part of the world’s biggest film and alternative photography community blog.Sure it doesn’t have the dynamic range of Portra, but I’m fairly careful with my metering when shooting portraits and I try and find nice even lighting.

I’m not saying it isn’t average, but I don’t think dismissing as such is the best way to think about it. I’ve been asked at least a dozen times—probably more—to create a Fujicolor C200 film simulation recipe.Perhaps it’s because Kodak doesn’t manufacture a serious line of digital cameras in which to emulate certain film looks…Or maybe they DO see a market that Fuji doesn’t. I use both films but they can’t compare with a Kodak Ektar 100, which of course is much more expensive. I shot the Fujicolor c200 during my trip to Sweden with the point-and-shoot Olympus AF-1, and my use of the film roll has been strictly during summertime. It didn’t lose detail in the sand or the sky above it and gave plenty of sharpness and contrast to the people in the scenes too.

Unfortunately you can’t, until Fujifilm gives the X-T3 the Classic Negative film simulation and the other new JPEG options (I’m still crossing my fingers that they will). Since 1976, we have developed literally millions of rolls of film with experienced lab professionals and film enthusiasts. As you can see in this photo the reds seem to pop quite a lot while the greens are also oversaturated. In the shot with the bridge over the river Yulong, the greens of the trees and the water and the man’s red shirt back up the earlier claims made on those. It’s a trend I did my bit to keep going, with these JCH Pan 400 street shots and these CineStill 800T neon signs. Fujifilm 200 features enhanced colour reproduction, great sharpness and benefits from a smooth, classic fine grain.
