Her roommate, Nina Ramos, is a great friend who encourages Morgan to put herself out there and meet someone. She bought a small house and has a best friend named Nina who moves in with her that helps her house feel complete. So, another great book by one of my most favorite authors, and I'm already exited about the next one.

The ending was so very satisfying and listening to the story made it the best of reading experiences. Michaelides seems also to be dipping into the world of Edgar Allan Poe, offering an unreliable narrator who feels more like a literary exercise. Brooks is a pro at building suspense even if it plays out in some rather spectacularly yucky episodes, one involving a short spear that takes its name from “the sucking sound of pulling it out of the dead man’s heart and lungs. Strong threads of family, friendship, love, loss, grief and resilience are strong and flawlessly woven throughout.

Which, in hindsight I'm really glad I didn't read it because it added an unintended surprise factor for me along the way. Her determination to uncover the truth about her past and her unwavering spirit make her an admirable lead. Probably the past six to seven of her books could be interchangeable, just replace names, a few of the plot devices and there would be a “new” book created. Anyway, I’m sure the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results and I can’t imagine why I keep reading Nora Robert’s books knowing what I’ve know the past several years, which is they have all been TERRIBLE! This had the family dynamics, the community vibes, and the competency porn that I love, plus the resort atmosphere reminded me of the Bridal Quartet in a wonderful way.

Her new job as the manager of a resort bar gave her purpose, new direction and unexpected romance with the owner’s grandson, Miles Jameson. I liked the characters a lot, rooting for and relating to heroine Morgan a great deal, despite the fact I’ve never been hunted by a serial killer. Morgan’s life is happy and fulfilling, and she is making progress on her financial and career goals. The story is about starting over and planting roots when you’ve lost everything but it’s also about this heavy bond between Morgan and “her ladies” (her mom and her grandmother,) which is something really special.

Identity is unique and highly detailed, plus she ties in plenty of surprises that completely had me captivated. The characters are very well developed and it was easy to get caught up in all of the drama that unfolded. The police and FBI pursue Gavin, who continues to stalk and kill women, each time leaving a reminder at the crime scene that shows he’s fixated on Morgan as the one who got away.Overall, this was a story that quickly pulled me into the narrative and the lives of Morgan and those around her.

The narrator, soon established as Elliot Chase, then zooms out to address the reader directly, introducing the players—most importantly movie star Lana Farrar.

Along the lines of character development again, one of the most interesting thing about this book is the dual progression of two characters: the protagonist (Morgan) is evolving and growing stronger while at the same time the antagonist devolving and coming apart. An identity theft was portrayed exceptionally well as too the devastating aftermath, however the story then seemed to deteriorate, with the ending happening to quickly after all the suspense. The small things like working as a bartender in a resort with hopes of owning her own place one day, learning to cook, reconnecting with family, and sharing her hopes and dreams. I love spreadsheets so much that every time Nora brings them up, I want to make a million more for my own sanity.
