Grace is the main character in this story and we learn early on that she leaves home at a young age. She was brought up by her grandfather Marley following the death of her mother and as she grows into her teen years, clashes with him which in turn sees her leaving home and Scotland. When we fast forward a number of years we find Grace a single mum of 3 boys and in a loveless and violent relationship. When she unexpectedly finds out that her grandfather has passed away, she takes the opportunity to escape her life and return home. Her real home.

He’s never experienced life in the same way most people have. He’s lived a privileged life and everything he does and how he reacts to the situations he finds himself in show just how privileged his life has been. Thankfully Christie Barlow is keeping her readers happy by publishing two books a year in the brilliant Love Heart Lane series because quite frankly I really can’t get enough of these books. Without doubt Love Heart Lane is my favourite ever series, with not a dud book in sight instead each story just gets better and better and my love for the characters, the plot and the setting only ever increases. You’d think by now perhaps the series would be running out of steam but that’s not happening at all and I think Christie just gets better and better with each new story she brings to us and you can tell how much she enjoys the writing. Long may it continue I say, if you are on to a winning, successful formula, which she clearly is, why go and change it or deviate from it at all? I have read and loved every one of the books in this series, they can be read as stand-alone as they are a story in their own right. What you will miss out on is how the community has been connected, brought together and developed with each book.Small tattoos look dainty and cute and don’t require as much commitment as more substantial designs, both in terms of the session time and price, but also the amount of space they use on the body. Starting small is an excellent decision if this is your first piece, and you have many options with regards to placement. You can choose to ink your finger or your ankle, but regardless of which area you decide on, the tattoo will be subtle; and that is part of its appeal. Don't forget Grace's fantastic long-lost friends who come to her rescue when she needs them the most. When we think of infinity, we think of something that will last forever. The symbol represents limitlessness, and when accompanied by a heart, it is often considered to indicate endless love. It is a beautiful design for those who want to show their dedication and passion for someone or something special in their life. The piece can include names of those who you hold dear to your heart, or contain other images such as little birds. The wide variety of options allows you to create something deeply personal and unique to you. Runaway Grace has spent many years away from her home of Heartcross, a stunning village nestled in the Scottish highlands, but when her Grandfather passes away she knows it’s time to swallow her pride and return. I am pleased to recommend this fabulous read full of emotional moments and warm supportive friends. Give this book and the series a try, it won't disappoint.

And, what exactly is penniless Grace going to do with the run-down castle? Will she be forced to sell to her neighbour, TV chef Andrew Glossop? Can Grace bring herself to give up the place that holds so many memories for a second time? Ultimately, Heartcross Castle is a wonderful, heart-warming story of family, friendship and community. It is a lovely, entertaining read and one I would be happy to recommend.

In previous books we’d heard about the old man in the castle and the rumours of ghosts. I’d always wondered what his story is, it felt like there was more to tell. But I didn’t know what. The Love Heart Lane Series is one of my all-time favourites and somehow Christie manages to up her game for each new release by adding even more characters to her already diverse cast. Although this book can certainly be enjoyed as a standalone you do cross paths with many of the people from the previous books and it definitely would enrich your reading experience to have enjoyed the previous novels – in my opinion anyway! The relationships in this book are what make it, and they are all beautiful. Grace and her boys, her old friends, and particularly that between Grace and Hector. Their interactions brought me to the verge of tears several times because the way they interacted was just so lovely. I love a book which explores relationships of all kinds, not just romantic ones, and this is where the people who are dismissive of romance novels are mistaken. There is always so much more going on in these books than a love story, and this book is a prime example of the complexity of issues that can be explored.
