The 3.5 hour battery life on the T1 buds themselves is pretty poor compared to others I’ve tested which average 5-6 hours. That said, there are nine extra charges in the case for a total of 35 hours of battery life. I should point out that the 3.5hrs wasn’t enough for my typical work day usage because my day is split into 4-5hour chunks with lunch break in between. Also, considering that the buds take at least an hour to fully recharge you might want to think about how you use them for long stretches. Should you buy? The box is charged via a USB-C port located on the rear. And, no, it doesn’t have wireless charging. It also does not have the typical 4 LEDs that indicate the remaining battery level, but the front LED will blink 3 times every 5 seconds when the charge level of the box is low. The sound of the earbuds is…complicated. For starters, these earbuds are billed as “gaming” earbuds. I’m not quite sure what that is supposed to mean.

I personally liked the game mode mode for audio as well as gaming. The good news is you have both to choose from and you get to choose. This is helped by the presence of pop-up physical triggers along the right edge of the phone, which can be assigned a function for your game, to turn your smartphone into a device that more resembles a gaming controller. This setup delivers quite an advantage in games. What is clear is that Bass you can feel was the first thing they briefed the audio technicians on for this build. Sound Thanks to that, the headphones are light, only 4.5 grams, while the set (headphones plus box) stays at 42 grams.I mentioned earlier in the review that, as someone with large ear canals who typically needs large ear tips for earbuds to stay secure in my ears, I would have preferred perhaps a fourth larger size. While the largest size tips held the earbuds in my ears satisfactorily, they constantly felt like they were going to fall out, which was a bit unnerving. Yet even during intense exercise with a significant amount of sweat dripping into my ears, the earbuds did stay put. Also, almost every time I wore them, one would fit fine, but I’d have to spend time getting the other in just the right spots that it would both stay in and I could hear sound from it. In use this means that colors display slightly less punch, and contrast is a little worse – although, admittedly, the difference is minor. You’ll only really notice the differences if comparing the various handsets side-by-side, and we found the display fine for its purposes. The bottom end is round and deep – definitely sculpted to be present. Easily matches the AirPods Pro for feeling in the lower frequencies but you have to make sure you get them deeply seated in your ear. If there is even a small leak in the seal you’ll lose the deep and fat bass frequencies. Answer a call: we must tap on any headset while we are receiving a call. During the call, a touch will make us hang up.

When fully charged, all six of the case’s green LEDs are lit, and the case looks even more sci-fi. The earbuds themselves provide about 5 hours of use, and the charging case will boost this to about 20 total hours of listening time. In practice I found this to be accurate. My daily use of the earbuds consisted of wearing them during a workout for about 1 hour, then using them to listen to a podcast or audiobook for another 30 minutes to an hour. With the charging case as their booster, the earbuds lasted almost a full week before I had to charge the case again. The Bluetooth connection is relatively stable, and I have not had cuts or interference at reasonable distances. The maximum range of these BS-T1s is medium, they allow me to move a couple of rooms away from my computer, but when I get to the kitchen, I lose signal (like most similar headphones). The earbuds nestle perfectly down into the case. The lid’s hinge has a bit of a spring assist that helps it snap into both the open and closed positions. The earbuds have a very compact design and ergonomic shape which I’ll discuss further below. The earbuds include three sizes of silicone tips. As someone with large ear canals, I’d have preferred them to have perhaps a fourth, larger set of earbuds. I’ll talk more about the fit of the earbuds a bit further down in this review. We did have a little trouble with the autofocus, especially on the macro mode – which, on occasion, seemed dead-set against actually focusing on subjects; but a shot reset usually fixed this. The headphones are medium-sized in the area placed in the ear and in the part that goes into the ear. The distribution of weights is well achieved, and they are well supported with ease. They do not move when running or exercising, something essential because the headphones have the IPX4 water resistance certificate, so they are resistant to sweat and rain.

If the case itself didn’t look 80s retro sci-fi enough, it has three pairs of green LEDs on its front that serve as battery level indicators. When the batter is at its lowest level, only two of the green LEDs are lit, which makes the case look uncannily like the face of a Transformer, perhaps a cross between arch-enemies Optimus Prime and Megatron. These are dual mode earbuds with both a music mode and a gaming mode. A triple touch to the left or right earbud will change it from Music to Gaming mode. There is a lovely lady who will tell you when you’ve moved from music to gaming mode.

Power Off – place earbuds in the case and close lid, or press and hold both touch controls for 5 seconds Each headset mounts a 40 mAh battery with which we can enjoy 7.5 hours of autonomy at medium volume. The box has a 400 mAh battery, allowing us to charge the headphones about 3.5 times, so the total battery life exceeds 30 hours. These earbuds are equipped with the ability to toggle between “Music” mode and “Gaming” mode by triple-tapping either earbud’s touch control. I wasn’t sure which mode was supposed to be which, but each did produce a very different sound. One mode sounded a bit tinnier, with sharp highs and mid-range, but little to no base. The other mode sounded a bit more muffled, with mostly mid-range and some base, but almost no highs. Generally speaking, I found the tinnier mode to be better for listening to music and podcasts, and I didn’t have much use for the more muffled mode. Musically they are more than up to task considering the lower price point. You can choose between the dual modes for gaming or music with a triple tap on the earbuds.

I’d love to see someone do an aftermarket ear foam tip but the silicon to seal and provide some passive noise isolation. What are they missing? This can help you improve your gaming experience to a fair degree – but it doesn’t quite offset the overheating problems. The headphones feature Bluetooth 5.2 and are compatible with SBC and AAC codecs. They also work in the dual-host mode, so we can use one or both headphones automatically (without configuring anything on the mobile). The length of the buds is really nice and I’d say while not as comfortable as my AirPod Pros they are super light and will be comfortable for long listening sessions or gaming sessions. It’s hard to overstate how useful this feature will be for certain users. Plugging in the device while you’re having your morning shower will top up the device with enough charge to see you through the whole day; or, if you’re running low on juice in the evening, just five minutes of power will get you over the finish line.
