They don’t go very loud, so if you’re hoping to completely drown out the outside world, these aren’t the earbuds for it. Nonetheless, the firm fit provides great sound isolation, and the Vista earbuds manage to hold the audio detail together right up the loudest it can go. This price point puts the Jaybird Vista 2 in competition with the likes of the Bose Sport Earbuds.Read our Jabra Elite Active 75t review and Sony’s WF-SP800N review for other similarly-priced rivals.

The app makes it easy to see battery status but it's 8 hours from the earbuds (or 6 with ANC or SurroundSense mode) + two additional charges from the case (Image credit: Josh Ross) Edwin Starr’s War starts playing and we notice a marginal deficiency in detail – the saxophones aren’t quite as full, detailed, or recognisable as horn instruments as they are via Cambridge Audio’s Melomania 1 true wireless in-ear headphones. It’s a small issue and one we wouldn’t notice in isolation, because the Vistas provide a pleasing, fun and musical sound overall. An area where the Jaybird Vista 2 buds really excel is workout performance. The new features and the even more impressive IP rating make the Vista 2 not only sound clearer in loud environments but also more resilient, no matter how sweaty/hard your workout is.

How well does the Jaybird Vista block out sound?

For starters, they have a wealth of wing tip options. This makes it easy to get a solid seal and during testing they offered one of the most stable seals and fits I’ve ever had on a set of true wireless earbuds. One noticeable change compared to the original Vista is a more textured finish on the outside of each bud. Jaybird calls this WindDefense fabric, which is essentially included to help stop wind from interfering with taking phone calls.

You won’t find some noise-cancelling or ambient sound features here, like the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless, which uses external microphones to play outside noise inside the drivers, keeping you more in tune to your surroundings. We’re told that Jaybird wouldn’t have been able to keep the dimensions down if it included these kinds of features, which holds true when we consider the bulkier earbuds of those other models. Our verdictRunning with Jaybird wireless earbuds is a real pleasure due to the comfort in fit, and rich sound quality And by ‘moving’, I mean anything at running or riding pace. While I’ve been trying many different modes over the last week, I spent half my bike commute this morning trying every possible option for ANC & SurroundSense to see if any were viable, and simply put – none were. With IP68 durability, there’s no need to worry about getting caught in a storm, accidentally washing an earbud with your sports gear, or even standing on one. This kind of peace of mind is priceless when you like to run in harsh environments or even running on the hard tarmac for extended periods of time – a drop will not be the end of your earbud. Connectivity and Stability Issues: Some users have reported connection issues and intermittent drops in audio quality. These issues could potentially be improved in the next release by using newer Bluetooth technology.
