Description

The same epic combination of cinnamon and sugar is also available in a longer, cylindrical shape. Interestingly this variation contains 3g of protein and 3g of fiber per bowl, arguably making it a marginally more healthy option.

The cinnamon adds flavor directly to the dough. The butter creates a flaky bite, the vanilla adds flavor, and the sugar sweetens it all up. Start by mixing together the cinnamon and sugar. See, super simple. I love to eat breakfast cereals, but I'm not a fan of all of the calories that typically come in them. The short answer? No, no, it is not. This cereal is made of whole grains that might sound healthy, but any goodness that might come from said grains is overridden by the incredible amount of sugar you intake with every mouthful.

The amount of whole grain per serving provides approximately 2g of dietary fiber per bowl. This equates to 7% of your daily requirement. Well, that is how to make low calorie cereal with only 3 ingredients in under 5 minutes! Pretty wild right?

Just note that I use fan assist here because we have multiple trays baking at once and we need the air to circulate for even baking. If you don’t use a fan then you will have to rotate the trays for an even bake. Next, most everyone is home right now. Many of you are home with your kids and they are bored. I don’t personally have kids, but I have my little sister, Asher, visiting me often…and she is bored. Asher’s favorite cereal? Cinnamon Toast Crunch…though she’s never had the boxed kind. My parents just don’t buy that stuff anymore (correction – Asher says she has had it at her cousins in Cleveland). But I’ve made this homemade version before and Asher has always loved it. When I told her what I was making on Sunday, her eyes widened with excitement and we had a lot of fun baking this together. So, my point? This is a great recipe to bake up if you have bored kids at home. At first glance, Cinnamon Toast Crunch appears to be a vegan-friendly breakfast cereal since it does not contain meat or dairy in its ingredients. However, for the strict vegan, the answer is not so straightforward. Because I’m doing the Whole 30 in August and the only approved sweetener is the occasional fruit or fruit juice, I wanted to develop a low carb cinnamon cereal recipe that would also be Whole 30 compliant. It's why we came up with our own range of cereals that are not only low-carb (just one gram per serving) with absolutely no sugar, but they're also gluten-free and made from all-natural, non-GMO ingredients. That means no artificial sweeteners or colors. And thanks to monk fruit, it still tastes sweet — without the blood sugar spike.

Being able to make such a tasty treat with a handful of ingredients and without turning on the oven is a total triumph {or at least it is in my opinion}. Ingredients Needed to Make Recipe Anyway, as far as storing goes, after the squares harden, you can keep them in an airtight container - or resealable bag - and the cereal will last for about 5 days.
