Total harmonic distortion: 0.01 % @ +8dBu (20 Hz to 20kHz), GAIN knob: Min, 0.003 % @ +18dBu (1kHz), GAIN knob: Min The MG16XU is a fully loaded 16-channel analog mixer that is great sounding and easy to use. This mixer seems very well suited to live settings in a portable rig or as a permanent install in a club or church. Before I even looked at the manual I turned on the mixer to see how hard it was to make some sounds and it was very easy to do. The console set up is intuitive and everything was easy to see and find. I was getting sound through the console within seconds. With an intuitive, easy-to-use interface, the MG Series boasts an extensive lineup of compact mixing consoles with models ranging from six to twenty channels, suitable for a diverse range of users and applications. For installed, recording, or live music settings, the solid construction and flexible design of these consoles lets you shape your sound with confidence, continually delivering peak performance and a level of sound quality and reliability unrivalled in its class. Features The MG06X is very easy to use and set up. All you really have to do to get going is plug in either a microphone, a guitar, or a keyboard. Then plug in your headphones or connect the outs to a set of speakers. After that just turn the volume up and you’re off and running. For gigging, recording, and installed applications alike, your console can be subjected to a wide range of environmental conditions and hazards. Excessive humidity, unstable power supplies, and the rigors of road travel in general can take a serious toll on a mixing console, often causing expensive, time-consuming repairs, and reducing its lifespan. The MG Series has been redesigned with an emphasis on durability, incorporating practical features that offer greater flexibility while ensuring peak performance for many years to come.

When was the last time you heard guitar without EQ or a completely unprocessed vocal on one of your favorite songs? Probably never. Yamaha mixers are famous for their flat response and sonic purity, but it often takes more than a perfectly-captured instrumental performance or vocal to achieve a professional-sounding mix. Equipped with some of the same state-of-the-art functionality featured on Yamaha's high-end consoles, the MG Series gives you the tools you need to produce high quality sound that is uniquely your own. This mixer comes with two mono mic/line channels that have a 26dB pad, a high-pass filter at 80Hz, and separate high and low EQ controls. The channels are outfitted with Yamaha’s discrete Class-A D-PRE mic preamps with an inverted Darlington circuit and they sound really good. There is phantom power so you can use your favorite condenser mic. There are also two stereo line-level channels that can also be used in mono. Also included are six effects programs with preset reverbs and delays, XLR balanced outputs, an output for headphones, all built into a solid-feeling metal chassis.

There's nothing more useful than reliable equalization when you need nuanced management of your tone. The MG Series benefits from Yamaha's unparalleled experience in designing pro audio gear, featuring 3-band equalizers on all mono channels for precise control of your sound. High-pass filter allows you to eliminate unwanted low-frequency noise, for a smoother, cleaner mix. Feature-rich and delivering outstanding sound quality, the Yamaha MG06 analog mixer is well-suited for ultra-compact mixing rigs. The MG06's quality op-amp ensures that your mix sounds transparent and articulate. The MG06's crystal clear D-PRE preamps will squeeze every drop of tone from your mics, with natural-sounding bass and smooth highs. Featuring switchable phantom power, a pad switch, EQ, and LED metering, the tiny MG06 can take on just about any task you throw at it. Utilizing many state-of-the-art features from Yamaha's high-end consoles, the MG06 is ready to work for you! The Yamaha MG06 is a 6 channel mixer featuring 2 Mic, 6 Line Inputs (2 mono + 2 stereo), 1 Stereo Bus, "D-PRE" mic preamps with an inverted Darlington circuit, XLR balanced outputs, PAD switch on mono inputs, +48V phantom power and metal chassis.

The MG-06 is a 6 channel mini mixer with 2 D-Pre Mic inputs for super-quiet operation. The MG-06 has +48v phantom power for condenser mics and two balanced outputs to ensure that no matter how big or small your operation is, the MG06 will act as the lynch-pin mixing desk that you can depend on. Here's what Yamaha say about the Yamaha MG MkIII MixersThe 3rd generation of the Yamaha MG Mixer brings with it some neat updated features, great build quality and the same great sound and flexibility that we have come to expect from a Yamaha mixing console. Built with a sturdy metal chassis, the MG III series mixers are designed to last. The third generation of the acclaimed MG Series, these compact mixing consoles focus on delivering high quality sound for a diverse range of mixing environments. With the same mic preamps as our high-end professional mixers, the MG Series provides serious sound with the reliability and performance this series is renowned for. Yamaha has always strived to provide sound engineers with the purest possible signal instead of added processing or color to give it a "signature" sound, and the MG Series is no exception. Embracing this philosophy of transparent sound, these mixing consoles deliver a level of sonic purity and sound quality that is unmatched in their class. Yamaha MG06 Features

With phantom power, MG Series consoles allow you to take full advantage of the greater frequency response and high sound quality of condenser microphones. The input channel with PAD switch accepts MIC to line level of inputs, PAD Switch attenuates high input signals that often accompany mic'ed instruments during performance, avoiding the clippingthat can seriously affect your mix. Nobody wants to hear mics that are plugged into thin, distorted, or underpowered preamps. MG Series mixing consoles employ Yamaha's transparent D-PRE preamps, which provide more power with lower impedance, delivering natural-sounding bass and smooth highs. D-PREs simply sound good - without hyping any specific elements of your mix. The D-PRE's pure sound will ensure that you won't need to spend hours EQ-ing just to get a barely-acceptable sound, like you would with low-quality mic preamps. EQ and highpass filter allow for effective sound-shaping I found the MG16XU to sound really good. I plugged in a Shure Beta 58 vocal mic and an acoustic guitar direct into the board and was really encouraged by how easy it was to get right into playing music. The EQ section is wide ranging and I was able to dial in a clear and warm tone on both my voice and my guitar. The sweepable midrange is a great feature for that. The “one knob compressor” gave both my voice and guitar a nice boost and presence. Then by bringing in some of the onboard effects really brought everything together. The reverbs are very nice sounding and clean and even some of the crazier effects like the tremolo, flanger, and distortion are very usable. They made the AUX knob for the onboard effect white so you can’t miss it.

Part Exchange

The head amp determines sound quality, and op-amp integrated circuits are one of the most important parts in the head amp circuit. MG Series mixers feature new, high-quality, custommade MG01 op-amps that we developed in cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. Although many other Op-amps prioritize electrical design and efficiency, we worked directly with the semiconductor manufacturer to focus on sound quality first. MG01 op-amps feature redesigned circuitry in which even the internal components and wiring have been optimized, and use materials such as high-quality silicon wafers and copper wire to achieve superb resolution. The last thing I did with the console was to plug in my iPod and play music through the board. Again, the MG16XU sounded great with lots of output and room for more. Frequency response: +0.5 dB/-0.5 dB (20 Hz to 20 kHz) , refer to the nominal output level @ 1 kHz, GAIN knob: Min Whether you're tweaking your sound to perfection or whether you're removing some unwanted frequencies, effective and powerful EQ is necessary for building a successful mix. Featuring equalizers on all mono channels, the Yamaha MG Series mixing consoles provides you with ample control over the tonal balance of your mix. Additionally, a highpass filter allows you to get rid of any mud that might be present in your mix by eliminating unwanted low-frequency noise. High quality op-amp ensures transparent sound reproduction

The XLR balanced outputs make it very convenient to plug into a house PA or directly to a set of powered speakers or studio monitors. If you do solo gigs then you know what a hassle it can be to have to lug a bunch of gear around. You don’t need enough gear for a whole band, you just need a few inputs for you and your guitar or keyboard. If you could just plug into the venue’s speakers then you really wouldn’t need to bring much with you to the gig. That’s where a small mixer like the Yamaha MG06X comes in. This little guy comes with everything you need for small performance situations. MG Series mixers feature up to AUX sends for expanding your sound reinforcement or recording setup, allowing you to incorporate additional effects, output to external recording devices, or feed to an monitoring system. Master send controls are also provided. The MG06 / 06X and MG10 / 10XU have a single stereo bus. All other models additionally feature one or two stereo group buses and outputs that can be used for convenient channel grouping. Assign switches for the stereo and group buses are located next to each channel fader. Compression plays an essential role in just about any recording or sound reinforcement environment by altering the level of dynamics of an audio signal when you need livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare, or a cleaner vocal sound. However, it can take countless hours to master the complexities of even the most basic outboard compression units and use them effectively. Originally a Yamaha innovation, 1-knob compressors are now an industry standard that gives you instant access to optimized compression settings via a single rotary control.
